Just wondering if we still have an interest in Malcolm from Bordeaux? Of what I know, he looks good on both wings and as an attacking midfielder. Thanks.

Believable0 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - No it has gone now. There was a further offer for him from another side but it was rejected and he will likely stay.}

21 Aug 2017 11:48:13
Are we looking to sign per schuurs the young dutch defender?

Believable2 2Unbelievable

21 Aug 2017 16:03:37
He impressed on trial so i believe that we are, not sure how much progress has been made as there is a lot of interest from a number of clubs across Europe.

Hi ed,

Is there any bid or approach from Liverpool for ox.

Will arsenal sell.

Thanks.

Believable10 8Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - As far as I know LFC enquired after his availability. Arsenal are trying to avoid selling him.}

20 Aug 2017 21:00:14
Do you see us actively trying to sign him over the next week or so?

Agree4 4Disagree

{Ed002's Note - Klopp likes him, so perhaps.}

20 Aug 2017 21:14:52
Hopefully Chelsea will buy him, there's absolutely no logic in us signing another utility player.

Agree13 20Disagree

20 Aug 2017 21:05:30
Does he have an Arsenal contract offer on the table, Ed002?

Agree1 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - He has not had an acceptable contract offer made just yet.}

20 Aug 2017 21:23:55
Except we are lacking in that department at the moment.

Agree7 3Disagree

20 Aug 2017 22:04:13
JaYox, what department are we lacking in that he plays? We're well stocked for wingers, he's not a number 10, he's not a centre midfielder and he's not a full back,

Agree9 14Disagree

20 Aug 2017 22:09:16
Obviously don't know what's gone on behind the scenes but don't really understand the lack of approach or leaving an approach to this late in the window when it's a player that klopp has seemingly wanted all window. Surely would have made more sense to put a bid on the table and open a dialog before the season started.

Agree3 3Disagree

21 Aug 2017 00:31:46
I'm pretty sure we only have 3 senior wingers? Mane Salah and Kent? Yes Woodburn can play there but he's seen more as a CM, Coutinho can play there but who's knows what's happening there. Firmino, Sturridge and Origi can play there but all are ineffective so by signing Ox we get a player who's versatile and experienced so for me I'd like us to sign him.

Agree13 9Disagree

21 Aug 2017 06:38:28
He would replace Ryan Kent.

Agree1 14Disagree

{Ed001's Note - no he would not.}

21 Aug 2017 07:06:00
I don't get this idea that he's versatile? He's an ordinary winger, he's awful in central midfield, he can't play as a number 10 and he's ok as a wing back (which given the fact we don't play with 3 centre backs is a moot point) . Given our shortcomings in centre of midfield, central defence and Pipco's imminent departure, it's a signing that makes zero sense as it's not a priority.

Agree10 10Disagree

21 Aug 2017 08:47:28
Even then, if he doesn't go, we're left with a player that simply doesn't want to play for us any more, Klopp has alluded to the fact he isn't injured and is refusing to play.

Agree6 3Disagree

21 Aug 2017 13:43:26
I don't see how sighning a young english versitile player with a work ethic like his could be a bad thing. and he's talented. We could end up playing 60 games this season.

Agree3 1Disagree

21 Aug 2017 13:53:50
Decimus totally agree. He's also experienced in the CL so could be useful there too.

Agree1 0Disagree

21 Aug 2017 14:27:46
How is he versatile? He is woeful in centre midfield and he is a very very ordinary winger?

He's decent

He's fast

Ed's,

Is there any truth in Kent going out on loan? I've seen that it is to RB Leipzig, could this be a ploy to sign you know who?

I for one don't want him to go on loan I think with a full season at Liverpool he could potentially be quality long term winger at Liverpool.

Thanks.

Believable4 1Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - I think a loan is likely but I am not aware of any proposal involving a plot to use him to persuade Leipzig to sell Keita. Staying at Liverpool will see first team opportunities few and far between.}

20 Aug 2017 20:51:13
Kent is going over to.

20 Aug 2017 20:52:31
If RB Leipzig sell Oliver Burke to Palace as rumours suggest. then the Ryan Kent to Leipzig on loan rumours, might have some legs.
You never know.

Do the club see any future for Kent I really like the lad and believe he could be better than what sterling was or is.

Agree2 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - yes, he has given himself a chance of a future with his performances.}

21 Aug 2017 15:16:19
Shame, he should be getting 20-30 minutes most games and be 100% ready when Salah or Mane need to rest as a like for like replacement. He might not have the ability just yet but he has nothing more to learn on loan.

Agree0 0Disagree

20 Aug 2017 15:13:55
Edds,
With Draxler becoming available, do you think Liverpool would make an offer? I'd be happy with couts going and him coming in.

Believable3 1Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Draxler being available at this time - he is not one of the players that PSG are looking to move on and right now all I am aware of is his agent offering him to a couple of sides without the permission of PSG who don't want to sell. However, if he were to become available he would have to be a consideration as a replacement for Coutinho, although Liverpool has already enquired after another as you know. Arsenal were put off by his cost in January but given their position with Sanchez may look again if PSG make him available.}

20 Aug 2017 16:02:25

18 Aug 2017 16:14:15
Good the owners are passing a message to the rest of the squad and to the other teams that Liverpool cannot be forced into doing anything they don't want to either by a player or another club. We have our price they either pay it and take him or he stays where he is and in a world cup year we 'll see if he is willing to risk his place in the Brazil team.

Agree19 7Disagree

{Ed002's Note - This is nothing to do with the owners, and nobody is listening to any messages. It is like some sort of joke reading these posts.}

Agree11 3Disagree

18 Aug 2017 16:34:50
100 odd million would be a lot to spend on an unnecessary message don't you think? People need to get out of the tabloid way of thinking. The acceptance or rejection of an offer is nothing to do with any other clubs or players. We don't have time for an adequate replacement to come in so unless a ridiculous offer comes in, it won't happen. It's the same with RBL - don't need to sell, won't sell, and so the list goes on.

Agree9 1Disagree

18 Aug 2017 16:51:11
If there was a ready made replacement available, I would agree that it was stupid. Right now there is no one who fills the void he would leave. Plus I'm glad we're not allowing Barcelona to bullying us into selling.

Agree20 1Disagree

18 Aug 2017 17:04:07
Yeah, real stupid move keeping a player that doesn't want to stay Halifax.

Agree5 19Disagree

18 Aug 2017 17:34:40
"so unless a ridiculous offer comes in, it won't happen" is ONE HUNDRED AND FOURTEEN MILLION POUNDS not ridiculous enough for a man that cost £8m and wants to leave.

Agree19 11Disagree

18 Aug 2017 17:42:36
Apparently made up of a lot of add ons.

Agree10 1Disagree

18 Aug 2017 18:37:09
What good is another £118m to spend when we can't spend the money we already have. Lack of cash is not our problem, lack of attainable first team players to improve our team is. Selling our best player won't help this either.

Agree35 3Disagree

18 Aug 2017 19:00:32
Absolutely nailed on 5G.

Agree16 1Disagree

18 Aug 2017 19:01:37
Amen to that 5 gold, if we can't use the money to improve thw squad then its useless. We lose our beat player and can't replace him but we are a few million quid better off? No thanks.

Agree10 0Disagree

18 Aug 2017 19:12:00
You need to forget about how much he cost. By that definition Harry Kane isn't worth anywhere near what it would cost to buy him. Or Dele Alli etc etc. It's about what he is worth now to us as a club and 114million isn't ridiculous or over the top for one of the worlds best, most creative players in his position. Who could we go and get for that amount? Think before you get crazy about zeros.

Agree13 1Disagree

18 Aug 2017 19:16:30

Agree4 8Disagree

18 Aug 2017 19:34:04
Think its a good message from the board to the fans that their not all about profit. also, how much of this is just Barcelona using transfer publicity to cover their current gradual decline from being Europe's no.1?

Agree7 1Disagree

18 Aug 2017 19:50:36
Its not that we can't buy players with the money we have, its that the clubs don't want to sell. We could still spend money needlessly on secondary targets.
You all need to realise that even without Coutinho or Sturridge we have still scored goals, we need a defense, and better organisation in defense.
As Macca said, it is entirely possible that we are waiting for confirmation of CL qualification before making our moves.

Agree5 1Disagree

18 Aug 2017 20:01:23
Well I am tied on this, I think if they offer £118 mil straight with no add ons, I would take it. BUT not at this time in the window!
Basically easy, and inferred by Eds - teams panic buying pay more at this stage. All will know we have £118 mil "in the bank" and anyone we want will be £20mil more! Exactly the same as what we see with Barcelona having £200mil "in the bank"
It's random time!

Supposedly the offer is for 80 Million with the remaining 36 Million as add-ons. And the 80 Million is not to be paid up front; maybe as much as over five years. So what's the point? Sell Coutinho and buy VVD or Kieta for almost the same amount? No wonder it got rejected immediately.

Agree4 0Disagree

19 Aug 2017 03:37:12

If the terms really are that level then well done the club for turning it down. If they feel has to be over 100m then that has to be what the club will get. When is irrelevant to an extent (I would think spread payments are quite useful for accounting and revenue purposes for most clubs), that it is money that will be paid is the issue.

Still less laughable clauses quoted there than Palace's initial Benteke bid including a chunk being reliant on them qualifying for ECL.

Agree3 1Disagree

19 Aug 2017 09:44:03
Tbh just my opinion, couts should have thought about the potential of Barcelona when signing a 5 year deal with no release clause, if rumours are true then Barcelona have been sniffing for over a year or so, surely he or his agent would have knew this,

Fair play to Liverpool for sticking to there guns, he might want to ask his agent a few questions tho,

Hopefully if he is here in September this can all get put behind and stick together,

(Thoughts and prayers are with the people in Barcelona and all the friends and families of the injured and the sadly lost)

Agree4 1Disagree

{Ed001's Note - Barca were not sniffing around him, he was sniffing around them. I believe his choice to sign the new contract was based on a belief that they would not come in for him for at least a year, if at all.}

19 Aug 2017 18:26:41
Great result today 1st off, I am fascinated too see wat this guys attitude is like if we don't sell him, jus going off wat paul joyces reported that he said phil would never play for us again or wear the shirt he could actually redeem him self by knuckling down giving us one season then we can sell him, he never asked for a clause in his contract so he should show respect, I know players these days have no loyalty especially those from south america an europe but this is showing him in a bad light he could leave on good terms from the club that has made him a world star and a 1st teamer for brazil he is really comin into his own as a world class talent an we could so do with him.

Agree0 1Disagree

19 Aug 2017 21:26:09
Ed 001.if what your saying is true about couts sniffing around Barcelona before signing his contract, then it seems he has gambled and lost, I can understand why he'd wanna go, but he must have realised at the time this could be a possible outcome. can't have it both ways.

I wouldn't have sold neither. LFC say Not For Sale, at a terrible time in the window, after selling Neymar, and build an offer at 80m that could potentially reach 118m. Not to mention some paid over 5 years. And (if rumours are true) give LFC a deadline to reconsider? hahaha. Did the Madrid drumming knock ya senseless?

Hi eds, I know you got a lot of questions about who's coming in. Do you have any information in regards to players leaving? Thanks!

Believable3 0Unbelievable

{Ed001's Note - Goalies: Bogdan will go as soon as he is fit. Probably be January now. Ward is unhappy at being a back up and would like to either be in the team or out on loan.

Defence: Little to no interest in Sakho, his demands and injury on top of our ridiculous asking price has left him high and dry right now. Probably be stuck with him until January, unless someone panic buys him. Flanagan is available for sale.

Midfield: Interest in Can from Juve has now gone for now. It is likely he will see out the season and evaluate his offers when his contract expires in the summer. Strange the way we have messed him about like this when he is clearly seen as a back up when all are fit and we tried to sign another midfielder to push him even further down the pecking order. Milner is the oddity, he wants to be a starter, wasn't happy at playing left back but understand the need, now he is just a utility player, which is what he hated doing at Citeh. While the club are not pushing him out of the door, I am sure he will want us to accept any offers which arrive for him.

Attack: Markovic is available but we have priced him out of a move.}

18 Aug 2017 07:46:49
Ed you haven't included Morono (I have spelt that right) . Please tell we are not intending to keep him now, on the strength of one good performance preseason. I was hoping his starts were to put him in the shop window.

Agree2 10Disagree

{Ed001's Note - there is no one interested in meeting the asking price and he has an excellent attitude and works hard at his game.}

Hi all,
United fan here, thanks for the Eds as always.
What about Draxler as a replacement for the potential Coutinhio departure? Is that possible?

Cheers.

Agree0 8Disagree

{Ed001's Note - I hope not, we have shown no interest prior to this.}

18 Aug 2017 08:40:04
To be honest Ed1, I don't think we have messed Can about. He has finished the last two seasons strong, but not started them great. He is quite young so not going to shout about inconsistency etc, in fact I quite like him as a player. He gets plenty of minutes in a season to stake his clame on the first team CM spot and if he plays better than the competition then he keeps his place, same as any player in the team.
Has he done enough to be a regular starter? For me yes, I think he has, but i don't think he has done enough to be the first name on the team sheet. If he wants to be a big player for a big club then he will be competing with top players week in week out for his place, regardless of who is bought and sold.
I am sure that we have offered him a very lucrative new contract, so not sure how we are messing him about?
Maybe I am missing something?

Agree5 1Disagree

{Ed001's Note - messing him about changing his position, not giving him a chance to settle into one.}

18 Aug 2017 09:17:54
Ed Do you rate Morono then? I can't see why we brought Robinson. Was he not a Klopp signing? Gomez even would be better at left back.

Agree0 6Disagree

{Ed001's Note - Moreno was excellent in La Liga but the team was set up for the way he plays, whereas we are not set up to cover for him. We just end up with massive gaps at the back. As for Robinson, no idea who that even is, it would help if you wanted to slag off our players if you learnt their actual names. Gomez was terrible at left back, after a couple of good games, bad enough to get dropped for Moreno prior to his injury.}

Sorry I meant Roberson. What I meant was why buy him and not play him? I didn't want to slag the players, in fact I'm quite a positive fan, just don't rate our current left back.

If can runs his contract down is there any chance he will stay? Won't he be seeing pound signs?

Doesn't Can want Hendo's position, cos if so and they're both fit, the captain starts in PL and European matches surely?

The thing is, its not about the money, with Can or Coutts as they would likely be on less money elsewhere.

Dont think either of them would be on less money and there isn't a need for elsewhere for Coutinho. He wants to go to Barcelona and that is it. They are hardly going to put this effort into signing him then try to short change on the salary. Can, if I am correct, hasn't been on a big deal at LFC and would be getting better money if he signed the deal at LFC. Again he isn't going to be offered less than he is on now by anyone including LFC. Significantly in both cases they have reasons other than money for leaving.

Apparently Kieta was training away from the squad the other day. Don't know if it's true but a few people have said it.

Could just be an injury, lots of Liverpool players train separately when they have small niggles.

Macca has no reason (as far as I'm aware) to come on here and tell porkies. I think our lack of activity, in regards to MF reinforcments, speaks volumes of chance of signing kieta. I believe he is coming. Also think he will be explosive in premiership.
