To get local youth into the stands is absolutely necessary. But there will always be a large percentage of older people and us foreign fans with deep pockets. A way to improve the noise might be to get rid of some of the mumble songs and go for simple interchanging chants. Check out some vids on Stockholm derby Hammarby vs AIK, or indeed BVB.

Here's an idea maybe people should learn the songs rather than complain about 'mumble songs'. When you go to the game and people done know the words the YNWA it is the most disappointing and upsetting aspect. I look like an alien to people in the Anfield Road when I sing Poor Scouser Tommy etc. The atmosphere has been dire since 2007, too many pink hat and plastic fans who go for the glory and not because they love the club.

If local fans and especially young fans could afford or even get a ticket that might change. One of the worst things to see is the mascots being from Dubai or Kent and not local kids. Just shows how the club is moving away from caring about having the regulars and prefers having the rich occasional fans than those people who can create an atmosphere.
