Hi EDS,

Is Karius a done deal? or are we just putting the cart before the horse again? My first post I ever had on here was to ask about Karius nice to see it happen if it should materialize.

Do you rate him? Really value your knowledge as you have always been pretty spot on.

{Ed001's Note - I have seen very little of him sorry. I got caught up in watching every single Premier League game this season, instead of taking more time to watch other leagues. I won't make that mistake next season as it has left me out of touch with players of interest.}

I saw him a few times last year. His ability to make saves isn't particularly outstanding, about at the level Mings is at when we decide he's been doing alright for a few games. His ability to distribute the ball seems much better and a huge improvement on what we have. Never really saw him shouting and organising overly much but then I also didn't see him when he really needed to be.

I watched a few games after some rumours came out on these pages a couple of months ago, and the first thing that struck me about him was the same as most young goalkeepers today. They seem to catch and hold the ball far less than in the older days, and tend to parry or box the ball away. And quite a few times the parrying was towards the center of the field, where an onrushing striker could easily slot the ball into the net (didn't happen once in the games I watched) . I also noticed he is fearless with the high balls and doesn't hesitate as much as Mignolet, and he is better with his feet. I'm actually very excited about this signing. Could turn out to be the most influential signing of the summer, for the long term.

This is why i love this site, a community lending its voice, beside those nasty trolls of course. I haven't seen much of him either as Bundesliga matches aren't televised that frequently in South Africa anymore.

He's not a good as people hope he is. There is potential there though. I'd go for Horn but the chance of getting him was slim anyway.

I think he will be a good signing as long as too much pressure isn't put on him, It could take a little bit of time to adjust to the prem.
