What clubs? What's a "decent price" and how did you get all this information?

Getting rid of our captain and one of our better midfielders a week before the season starts. seriously?

I have a friend who I went to Uni with who now lives in Liverpool. He only passes what he heres locally, but I thought that since this was a 'rumour' page it seems quite appropriate for me to share it.
I just text him to get more, and he repeated the same really. No idea on price, but it is beleived Leicester are in negotiations, and possibly Spurs.
It is not a late decision either. The club has known for a while.

Hendo has struggled or been average in 4-2-3-1 under 3 coaches now, which is Klopps preferred formation. He only does well on the right side of a midfield of a single pivot in 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 diamond. While his defensive game might suit Klopp, I do not think his offensive game fits.

I couldn't of put it better myself! Henderson will prove all the doubters wrong and have a great season. wait and see.

It's what I was told and my friend seemed to think it is fairly common knowledge up there.
Anyhow it's a genuine rumour, and if it were a fact I would not need to post it here would I?

Allen, flanno, lucas, markovic (going) now henderson. Been telling LFC fans for years these player weren't good enough. I know nothing about football they told me. well, i guess klopp knows nothing about football either. lol.

It's far from a secret that Spurs have an interest in Henderson for a while now and everyones available at the right price.

Not sure on the rumors, But Wijnaldum playing deeper is a worry for Jordan Henderson. Can is an automatic starter. In between Grujic, Hendo and Wijnaldum one will partner Can. So you never know.

I can't see spurs wanting him. we have dier, dembele and wanyama. He certainly wouldn't dislodge the first two. We also have young Harry winks who is technically a better player than Henderson. So I can't really see the Liverpool captain moving to spurs to be possibly 5th choice.

Selling Henderson to accommodate Wijnaldum in centre midfield is completely illogical. Unless we're planning on bringing someone better in, then why would we sell?

Shankly I don't think he needs to be replaced, there would be a better balance if anything in my opinion with what we already have available.

Jerry if he was to move to Spurs it would be to play, they are far from being a silly club in recent years regarding their transfer business and if they were to make an acceptable bid to Liverpool and Hendo could agree terms i'm sure there would be reassurances for him and personally i'm of the opinion he is one of the best CM in the PL but like I said before here, nobody should be on a mantle in any club and everybody is replaceable. cough. except LB at the moment lol .

We have more than enough to replace him here as it is if not improve our current situation. We have brought in some really good talent that people don't realise these new players real potential because they prefer to whinge and whine about silly things instead of taking a step back and looking at the bigger picture.

By the way might do ye a good deal if ye are interested in 2 Highly Rated strikers, which don't really fit in here.

One Belgian and the other Italian.

😉.

Some of our best, and most balanced games have been with Hendo and Can at the base of midfield. He's perfect for a 4-2-3-1 or right midfield in a 4-3-3. He provides a solid defence, adds an experienced head to keep Can in position, transitions the ball quickly and effectively to the forwards (unlike some more defensive options) and provides plenty of assists.

Wijnaldum I see as a more attacking option to get into he box but that's not as effective in defence, or perhaps to be used in a 4-3-3 alongside Hendo. he's not a direct replacement in my book even if flexible enough to cover all the same positions.

Nobody's perfect or irreplaceable, but of all the squad, Hendos right up there as one we should be playing every match (unless Klopp is lying and we plan to replace him with Pogba! )

Pinkfloydd hanks for the follow up. The Leicester link seems feasible but surely this close to the season kick off we'd need 30+ to replace him!

Particularly when you consider this is our club captain and how some average players are moving for in this transfer window.

Hope this comes to nothing personally.

Savvy mate, poch doesn't do assurances. Also if your right and a move to us was to play. Then there's no chance. He simply isn't good enough for us, we've just bought a runner that can't pass in wanyama? Why we would want another one? Think West ham or Palace would be a good move for him. It's a shame you didn't take fazio off of our hands! I understand you needed a quality centre half ;) lol.

We are really very weak in centre midfield, last season proved that, so selling one of our better more experienced ones would defy logic. If anyone uses the argument that either 'Milner or Wijnaldum can play there' then they can't have watched and football last season because they can't, they don't have the intelligence, discipline or physical ability to play in that position.

I do feel Henderson may be a surplus to requirements at this point. I don't think he'll leave this summer but I suspect next. Wijnaldum is better going forward, Can is better all around and will only continue to improve, grujic shows potential. I like Henderson, but the fact that he may be forced out is actually a good thing as it shows we're improving.

28.) 06 Aug 2016
06 Aug 2016 13:28:30
Thing is lfcohio, Wijnaldum is not a centre midfielder. He lacks the physical presence and the ability to tackle. Put Wijnaldum in central midfield and you may as well play with 10 men.

What's wrong with you Frankly, None here wants him to play in the middle, Klopp plays him, picks the team and set the tactics.
Do you really think Klopp would buy Wijnaldum and replace Mane, Coutinho, Firmino high up?
Absolutely Not.

This thread shows who knows the game tactically and who doesn't. I like how people just like to disagree with frankly just for the sake of it but his post makes the most sense. How people are willing to sacrifice a more defensive unit in Henderson for a more attacking one in wijnaldum, when we have conceded so many goals the last 3-4 seasons is absolutely beyond me. Our problem is conceding, not scoring, why are people confused by this. A lot of the goals we concede come through the middle on counter attacks that do not get broken up or stopped because our midfielders lack the positional sense or read the game well enough to cut it out. Only Lucas really had that ability but unfortunately he was too inconsistent due to injuries and offered next to nothing going forward. When Lucas was on top of his game he was our most important player for those reasons, he was able to do them when no when else could. CM, LB and GK where our weakest positions last season, did no one watch that?

Then people put can over Henderson, but do not back it up with anything solid. Can isn't that great going forward, he's not that great going back. He's a solid midfielder but he is the one that would be replaced if a better midfielder were to come in. Look at his stats compared to Henderson, even when Henderson played less he contributed more. Can is still inexperience and the one that lacks the tactical prowess, people just feed into his hype. I like him, and think he should be there or there abouts but if a better midfielder came in, it should be for can not Henderson. Henderson has a injury hit season, and one he may never heal from fully, and everyone jumps on the bandwagon. But Henderson was constantly improving before that and was arguably one of the best midfielders in the league 14-15 season. They say he needs to do more going forward etc, but what has can done?

Then to say we have a midfielder to replace him in wijnaldum just puts the cherry on the cake for me. So far a midfielder has not come in that would replace hendo, not even grujic. Grujic has proven he's more of an offensive midfielder, and a decent one at that but that's not what we need in the middle of a 4-2-3-1, we need a more defensive minded unit. Wijnaldum doesn't play deep in the middle, he just doesn't provide anything defensively, hence why none of his previous teams played him in a central two. If we where to play him centrally it would be alongside can and hendo in a 4-3-3. Wijnaldum is more of a AM, so yes he does have that ability to play in 2-3 different positions but not at the expense of our better midfielders.

If klopp where to persist with wijnaldum in the middle, I'm sure it will quickly be changed, but the fact he might try it in the first place would really have me scratching my head at yet another bewildering decision. If klopp where to persist with selling Henderson, then I think he's made yet another mistake in the transfer market, and to not replace him would be disastrous. Everyone has their klopp glasses on far too quickly for me. I think he's a top manager but hasn't proved it with us so give him the chance to do that before you build him up to be a messiah. Acting like he can do no wrong.
