The problem is it's an issue with morals and integrity which the game struggles with at the best of times, add to that we're talking about John Terry who has neither and it's no surprise.

Joey Barton got away with it for years.

Totally, totally agree. It's a principle and a precedent that has now been set. No matter the reason for it, that simply cannot be allowed to happen. It's one thing a Chelsea player knocking the ball out, it's even worse when the other team does it. He could at least have pretended to be injured and hence they kicked it out to allow treatment. The fa have been made to look like mugs.

I think you're confusing match-fixing with betting-fixing. Terry's send off in no way affected the result of the match.

The fat pie guy situation was different in the sense that he heard of the bet and then decided to follow through in order to help his friends earn a few quid. Whereas Terry's send off was planned before the odds were set by the bookies. The fact that betting companies decided to set odds for the event is down to them and in no way did Terry or Chelsea decide to do it because of the bet.
The PL are investigating to see whether any irregular bets were placed to see whether his send off was leaked. Until rheyve come to a conclusion, your comment is rank speculation and indicative of your rather limited biased view.

How do you know? How do you know that if the keeper had tried to find one of his team mates it definitely wouldn't have led to a goal? You don't and neither do I, that's the point, when you start predetirminating something like this the match is altered.

Part of the problem is they make odds for such ridiculous things it's almost impossible to police. If they made odds for what time you opened your front door in the morning and your mates where betting, how big is the temptation and how do you prove whether it's luck or not.

IMO betting is a scourge but if it happens they should only be allowed to offer bets on things like a result, scorers etc. and not ridiculous things like whether someone eats a pie or not.

To be fair betfred took bets that he would be substitued on 26mins at 100/ 1.

{Ed001's Note - it is called spot fixing and it is against the laws of the game and the land.}

As much as I dislike terry, surely moyes should be the one in the dock for agreeing to it? Wasn't it his agreement that allowed it to happen? He only had to refuse citing potential issues.

{Ed001's Note - so the organiser should be excused because someone else also agreed to spot fix? Not sure I understand your reasoning. Everyone complicit should be charged and punished to stop the spread of this kind of cheating.}

No, Absolutely everyone complicit should be charged but if moyes says no then presumably it doesn't happen. but then again you're talking about the ego that is John terry here

My point was that moyes had the opportunity but took the easy option to agree. As such he should be called, but all I see is Chelsea / Terry.

{Ed001's Note - well first off, Terry is the ringleader and admitted he organised it, so he is bound to take the brunt of it. Has Moyes admitted anything? I know the Sunderland players agreed to be part of it, but I have not seen or read anything saying that was at Moyes' bequest, all have said it was Terry who asked them.

By the way, is there anything more sad and pathetic than organising your own tribute? That really is low.}

Exactly ED002

The fact he had to organise it because the club had not bothered to do anything after 22 years of service speaks volumes in itself. Its all rather embarrassing. Terry is that far up his own backside, he must of thought its what the world wanted to see.

I'm surprised he wasn't at the Friends Stadium last night in a United kit waiting to run on and lift the cup his morals are that low.

{Ed001's Note - erm Ed001 mate! Other than that I totally agree with you.}

Ooops Sorry ED - Im still waking up.

{Ed001's Note - it's ok, I can understand it was a shock to read something you agreed with from me.}

He should also be done for time wasting. He took ages getting off the pitch.
