Eds, I've read your recent answers in regards to max Meyer and of course naby keita .

With Liverpool possibly finding naby unattainable, social media is speculating that Meyer could be the next target.

My understanding of naby was he'd provide cover to defence as well as attack. I have little or no knowledge of Meyer. would he be capable of this or is he another attack minded midfielder?

And is there any updates in regards to Meyer?

Regards in advance

Niall.

{Ed002's Note - No Niall. I would think the speculation would be that Max Meyer would make a good replacement for Coutinho.}

I see a lot of similar qualities to Couts in Manuel Lanzini actually. of course, not as good but he's a decent player who's adapted quite well to the EPL.

I really don't know much of Meyer but if coutinho was to leave would he be such a bad replacement?
Coutinho wasn't exactly setting the world alite in la liga or serie could Meyer not have a similar impact?

HX none of us thought Phil would be as good as he is now when he first signed for us. So let's not assume Meyer cannot get to that level or be a player who can contribute successfully to the team.

Max Meyer 100% has the talent to equal couts. My issue is that he is about 4 years away from getting there so would weaken us considerably in the short term.

Not in a million years, 87. I've seen Max Meyer play for Schalke, the German Olympic team last summer (along with Brandt and Sule) and with the U-21's this summer. He is not fit to shine Couts' left boot except he ups his game seriously which we do not have the time for. The Couts of four years ago was already better than the Meyer of today. He is talented but a Couts, he is not.

Don't know much about Meyer admittedly but when inter sold Phil for 8 mil they could not have known he'd become one of world's best. My point is we simply don't know how quick, well someone will develop. I don't want us to stand in Phil way but I'd like him to choose us. Getting a little fed up. We scout fantastically and find these rough diamonds. Turn them into proper world class players and just when they start to peak we go give em to Barcelona or real madrid. Basically we do all the hard work and Barcelona get all the benefit from it. We get some cash, scout another promising player, build him up to a world beater and just when we're thinking of challenging for league we go sell em. I don't know how we do it but we need to make players realise we are one of the worlds biggest clubs.

Barcelona
Real Madrid
Liverpool
Juventus
Bayern Munich (maybe)

@Superred91 We do all the hard work? Really? Southampton rings a bell mate?
Who besides Sterling did we lose to a big club recently? Suarez? Not home grown. Even Sterling was brought in from QPR at the age on 16! Am I missing someone? Since Macca and Owen, who?

Funny that. In that case, Southampton do all the hard work and Liverpool reaps all the rewards! That's how football works.
