Paul Joyce of The Times, Chris Bascombe of The Telegraph, James Pearce of The Liverpool Echo, and Melissa Reddy of Goal; all of them are saying LFC will not be putting in the 3rd bid.

LFC were led (by the agent I think) to think they RBL were willing to sell NB but seeing that RBL were not going to be sincere in negotiating a deal, had decided that they will not be putting in the 3rd bid.

If we have to give up up Keita but then keep Coutinho and Can and bring in VVD I'd be a very happy man with this window.

I'm disappointed that we probably won't get Keita and I've never seen the guy play. excuse me while I go give my head a wobble.

RBL was never selling and Ed02 alluded to RBL issuing some type of warning to Keita's agents (pls, clarify this, Ed) so this maybe what the OP is referring to. Reports have already stated that RBL has slammed the door shut on any bids for Keita and it is time for us to move on and use the RBL tactics on Barcelona regarding Couts. Not for sale at any price.

Like most of us on this site Ben, Keita has somehow become the difference between winning the league and relegation. I think we all need to give ourselves a slap around the mush and remember how good we were most of last season without Keita the messiah.

I love how keeping our players is now seen as a successful window.

200 mil to spend, biggest summer in years, we're going to smash the transfer record, not once, not twice but three times!

Keep Coutinho and Can - best summer in years! LOL.

We are going after players who their clubs want to keep. That's a good sign. That's the kind of player the likes of Real and Barcelona typically go after.

The only problem is you risk not getting them, and you risk making a nuisance of yourself with other clubs, as Real and Barcelona have done, and which we are now in danger of doing.

A "successful window" is not signing lots of players who end up going on loan to one club after another for the rest of their LFC careers. We tried it. It doesn't work.

Whereas he's certainly not the difference between winning the league and relegation, he's certainly likely to be the difference between finishing in the top four and a good cup campaign.
