From what I've read, would it be fair to say that draxler and trapp would be two of the easier, if that's the best way to put it, for us to get through in January?

Its not a case of what is easiest. It’s a case of what’s best. If the right players aren’t available now, we should wait until the summer. I haven’t looked at the difference in our record of matches with and without coutinho but I think it’s good if not maybe better without him. Also think Woodburn could do a job in similar role until end of the season.

{Ed025's Note - yeah woodburn is very similar to pipco, i bet barca are kicking themselves they could have saved themselves a lot of money if they had gone for the cheaper option..

Seriously though, I agree with Decimus, Lallana has just come back from injury and Ox can play midfield too, Woodburn would only need to be used from sub bench or occassional cameo to rest the first team, he’s good enough for that.

If we can’t replace Coutinhos quality in this window with someone that is a good long term solution and gives us his X factor (hard to do) then why spend on someone that’s worse than Lallana or Ox?

Another alternative is to go for something completely different like a GK. I think the squad is getting to the point we can now be patient until the only very best players are available that can categorically strengthen the side.

I do agree, we've strengthened our weakest area and I was impressed big Virgil in his debut! I just feel that the whole Couts thing was sorted in the summer and respect the dude for still getting his head down and playing for us until the end. With that being said surely we were looking / enquiring/ sorting a replacement out back then.

I wasnt meaning easier just to get someone but out of those players mentioned if we really wanted a gk and mid in jan these two would be possible.
