Eds, would we have any interest in shaqiri? I think he'd be a good option to come off the bench and think mane could definitely use the competition. We'd probably be able to get him cheap as well since Stoke are likely going down. Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - no. He wouldn't move to sit on the bench, he won't play the team game, has attitude problems with the rest of his team slagging them off constantly to the Swiss press and is not good enough to get anywhere near the team.}

What did you think when we signed mane and salah. Did they work as hard for their teams as they do now? The answer would be no. There's no reason to think shaqiri couldn't be the same. He wouldn't have to sit on the bench every game and if he proves himself he could usurp mane in the starting line up if mane can't get back to the sort of form he was in last season.

we need to stay clear of mediocre players, klopp is building something very special, let's not ruin that.

NotInTheKnow mate, Mane was a beast at Salzburg and at Southampton I have no idea who you were watching. He scored one of the fastest hat tricks in premier league history. Salah was killing on a mediocre team at Fiorentina then at Roma. They have flourished in a system that plays them better.

Let's just say for the "cheap" we sign Shaqiri, the guy is not that good first of all, but let's say we give him a shot. He comes in does not play because Mane and Salah are first choice. He then starts to bad mouth the team to the media causing unrest in the locker room and screws up the team chemistry. Now we have a player who will not being played and sent home in wages. Why don't we just sign Sturridge to an extension while we are at it, it would be the same as pissing away money on Shaqiri. We see these players for 90 minutes a week and we think we know what they are like. The guy went from Bayern, Inter now at Stoke. If he was that good and didn't have issues other teams would have not given him a look. West Ham has been signing everyone under the sun they stayed away from him.

Mediocre is a compliment to Shaqiri, he's somehow even lazier than Balotelli which really says it all.

NotIntheKnow, your username says it all I'm afraid, wanting a player like HIM? seriously mate? and then bringing up Mane and Salah's work rate to compare, you have to be joking me?

What get's me about your second post is you completely ignored what Ed1 had said regarding his attitude, is that not an issue to you? you would still want to sign him, regardless of how much of an idiot he is?

I have an idea, let's go sign Balotelli and Sakho again shall we. For once in a long time we are free of fools like them, before Balotelli it was Suarez, we went on a long run with fools disrespecting the image of the club, we don't need more.

I'd feel a lot better if it was Shaqiri or Mane coming off the bench to make an impact next season instead of Lallana, Solanke, Ings etc. I know he's been saying to the press in recent weeks about the players at Stoke not being good enough or something along those lines, but he's not wrong is he? He's the only one who looks like he can make something happen for them all season and it's almost been up to him to try and save them in matches. Alongside better players I think still think he'd be a good option.

{Ed001's Note - he won't come off the bench. You aren't reading what I said. He is an arrogant arse who thinks he is too good to sit on a bench, even though he is not that good. Certainly not even half the player he thinks he is.}

Ok ed if his attitude really is that bad then i'll just have to take your word because it would only be detrimental to team morale so wouldn't be worth it.

{Ed001's Note - he has a habit of playing up, went AWOL in the past and stuff.}

There are two chances of Klopp being interested in Shaqiri :
Sod all and even less.

You want to know about his attitude and opinion of himself. Go YouTube the press conference from the Euros after he scored that bicycle kick goal against Poland. The reporter asked him something to the effect was it his best goal he scored. Shaqiri responded I always score great goals. God know what he was talking about because I have rarely to never seen him score "great" goals. The guy thinks he is a lot better than he is.

With these foreign players watch the press conferences they give to reporters from their own countries. The arrogance really pours through, maybe because they speak their native tongue and have the vocabulary to be dicks.

In regards to what you wrote "if mane can't get back to the sort of form he was in last season. "

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, someone may even have the stats but isn't Mane having a better season than last? More goals/ assists?

Cheers!

J Taylor - more goals, assists, chances created, successful passes, shots on target - just about everything you can measure better than last season.

{Ed001's Note - I think Mane has been magnificent over the last few weeks personally. He has been instrumental to the team. I didn't realise the stats also bore that out though.}

Mane this season; 18 goals and 9 assists.

Mane last season; 13 goals and 6 assists.

He is blitzing his record last season. It is a total myth he is having a bad year. Salah is just making him look bad. In any other season since 13/ 14 Mane would be our top scorer.

Mane is having a great season.

This perception about him having a worse season than last year is because Salah is the main man. Last year he was Mane.

People forget at the start of the season Salah was missing a lot of big chances and it was Mane who was scoring the important goals.

I think it's high time people started realising how good our team actually is up front. Forget attitude if you don't know what the players are like and focus on talent alone - players like Shaquiri, Arnautovic, Richardlinson, Redmond, Boufal etc are not the players a level down that might be happy to come in and try to compete. They are players that would never get to play unless we have a crisis.

They are players that would need to be showing their best games consistent at 20-21 years old to have a realistic hope of ever matching our guys or pushing them for their spots. Players like Draxler, Douglas Costa, Brandt and Lemar are the standard we need to look at now if we want next season to continue to improve on this one. I'll back whoever Klopp signs until he gives me a good reason not to (Caulker aside, everyone he's signed has worked to some extent) but the players who pop up with something impressive every half a season for MOTD are no longer what we should be looking at.

Long time scowler, rarely a poster.
Keep up the good work etc.

I have had to comment. Shaqiri to Liverpool instead of Lallana is possibly the worst call I have heard since Neville Chamberlain came back from Berlin and said "I have in my hand. ".

It completely misrepresents the kind of player Shaqiri is and undervalues Lallana who is a top quality player. He has been unlucky with injuries but he is a player who was heavily leaned on by Klopp.

Hi eds is there any interest on dembelle from spurs as he is in last year of his contract and supposedly available for 20million . Cheers.
