Please could you give some sort of summary as regards to our GK sotuation. In terms of what you think we will do with the current 3 we have and who we are looking at please? Everyone is banging on about Allison, Oblak, Cillaseen, but Im thinking its Butland were after and only him. With Migs likely departing?

Would appreciate your feedback please.

We want to buy at least one keeper, Butland is the option if Klopp is keeping faith with Karius. If he has decided he is not going to make it with us, then Allisson is the one he would like, but is unlikely.}

Cillesen shouldn’t be mentioned in the same breath as Oblak or Becker as he’s nowhere near top class. He’s a very poor keeper who can’t deal with crosses and has poor distribution, actually reminds me of a shorter version of a certain Belgian. It shows the lack of quality that the Dutch have that he’s number one.

If price for Alisson is an issue then maybe that £40m we've just spent on a midfield player should have been left in the Bank. To my eyes we're worse off at GK than in midfield.

If we are going after a keeper, there must be better around the whole of Europe than Butland. (If Becker and Oblak are non starters), we mustn’t make the mistake of going after Navas or Cillesen either, or Nick Pope after one season. I’m assuming Michael Edwards has an ace up his sleeve and will pleasantly surprise us all.

Johnny I’m not so sure that I agree with that I know 2 goal keeping errors have just cost us the European cup but our midfield was long over due an upgrade as it was full of energy and not much else . Yeah mongolet and karius aren’t great but neither was our midfield we often bypassed midfield to the front 3 Because of the lack of passing and dribbling ability.

Johnny we were making due with a midfield towards the end of the season. Fabinho also offers cover at RB, maybe if someone had marked their man properly Bale does not get those two goals. There was this player that slipped and cost is the title we should sum his entire career up to that point. Karius made some great saves in that game, but I guess no one cares about that.

I recommend we should get a keeper like Ralf Fahrmann, he is a high quality prospect, reasonably young yet not too young, and he has helped Schalke reach Champions League football in the Bundesliga. Imagine what he could help us accomplish with an immense defence in front of him. I also believe Mignolet's time is up, and should be sold- Danny Ward should be given a chance as the cup goalkeeper, whilst Karius is used as backup. Also, I would love to see a defender liek Jonothan Tah be implemented into our team, just to keep competition for positions high, whilst increasing squad depth- this will have a postive impact on players such as Lovren (a great player who has servely improved, yet we need to remove those mistakes that he is capable of) . Just my thoughts NOT official news nor rumours.

{Ed025's Note - i would have thought that after saturday mate any thought of buying a german keeper with potential would be the last thing you need..

Guess that could be why macca has said butland was close to being done due to the fact that before the final it was probably 99% sure karius would of had another season but after that performance and public pressure hard to see him starting next year maybe that’s changed things.

Is the price issue with Alisson due to the club not sure he’s worth that or more of a ffp?

Hi Ed001. Your earlier response ‘Butland and option of keeping faith with Karius’ suggests Butland would be no.2? Do you think Karius would be preferred over Butland? Would you prefer that?

{Ed001's Note - it doesn't work like that, just like signing Fabinho doesn't suddenly mean Henderson is going to sit on the sidelines all season. It would be up to both keepers to prove themselves and then a choice would be made. Karius would start with the advantage but it would not mean Butland is number 2.}

ED’s I don’t want to disagree with you here but I think it’s a blank cheque situation now for a new GK. Look back over some of the goalies who have won Premier League titles.

You need your keeper to be outstanding to win a league. We haven't had one for a long time. Klopp knows this, the owners know this and our rivals know this.

I see them spending big on one. I would love us to get Oblak as age and skill are perfect, Becker is the obvious 2nd option but after that I could see a random bid for Courtois.

Personally I would have loved them to throw in a bid for Mattia Perrin to test Genoa/ Juve.

If they get this wrong and they lose their bottle, we will end up with Cillessen as I’ve heard that there has been enquiries over him in the last few days.

Fekir - I think you're shooting your own point in the foot there several times. For a start, Reina was twice the keeper that Ederson and Young Schmeichel will ever be. He also better than VDS, if not quite by the same margin. Frankly, he's probably better than Courtois as well. These are all decent keepers but not that special and frankly, I wouldn't even swap Ederson and Schmeichel for Karius.

And then after saying we need an outstanding keeper to win the league, you say you'd like Perrin - a keeper with potential for sure, but one that you're taking a long leap of faith to call anything more than good right now.

Hjikle did I need to use diagrams and stickers to explain what I meant.

I think the club will switch to blank cheque to cover the position because history shows that it takes a strong keeper to win a Premier League. (Examples shown)

I said that if that is the case it will be one of 3 (Oblak, Becker, Courtois) as they are the most likely to move this summer.

I also said that should we not get one of those I can see them scraping the barrel (to us) by going for a lesser GK from a big club. That leaves Navas or Cillessen and I think Navas is out of the question so that leaves Cillessen who would be a terrible choice.

My personal preference would be for Perrin. Klopp has showed he is not afraid to put loyalty in youth but Perrin is better than Karius imo and will be one of the top 3 keepers of the future.
