#LFC have agreed a £2.9m deal with Anderlecht for Lazar Markovic.
What a coup!

Agreed, money for a player most people were saying we should just give away for free plus a 50% sell on clause. Edwards does it again!

The guy was purchased for circa £20 million. Four seasons of his career ruined while in his prime and A massive loss on his resale value. A disaster is the word I would use myself.

You pretty much summed it up Irish Rover, Edo2 did say Liverpool massively overpaid what anyone else would, I think it was Chelsea who were originally interested. The Eds also said he was definitely not ready to move to the premier league.
4 years of his life wasted, let's hope he can resurrect his career elsewhere.

Good luck to the lad, fingers crossed he can reignite his career.

{Ed025's Note - good riddance is the words you are looking for salah, a drain on liverpools resources for far too long and contributed absolutely nothing mate, i would whisper those 3 little words in his ear...on yer bike..

Can’t just blame the club. Never done anything on any of the loan deals he had either! “On ye bike”.

Lol Ed25, I can't argue with that mate.

Blimey Ed. Someone's after a wooden spoon for Christmas. You're stirring yours down to the nub! ;)

{Ed025's Note - i just tell it like it is bardzo, i cant stand freeloaders i see enough of that drinking with my liverpool supporting mates.. :)

“Almost” scored a screamer against Sunderland. Got sent off against Basil. Lazars legacy.

Yet the move collapses.

I think Markovic realises he will never make the same kind of money in his career, and he is trying to maximise on that income while he still has it. Terrible that he decided not to move for playing time.

{Ed0333's Note - I would have done the same thing. He’s probably on more money at Liverpool a week than what he was being offered by Anderlecht, so he burns the last year of his lucrative Liverpool contract and does a Bosman next season. He’s still young for a footballer and still has time to resurrect his career although i don’t think it will be a stellar one.

To be fair, and I have no idea of the specifics, but he'll yeah I would burn a year on the bench on significantly higher wages then leave for free. He gets to train with this team and can continue some form of development that way. Go get that money Lazar!

And what would he do next year Ed033? He would be a free agent and will have no suitors or only the same set of suitors who are offering today? He won’t play a single minute which means he will have nobody watching him!
If he is planning to retire this year then yes stick on to what you have.
He should have accepted the wage cut and play for an year or two and then big clubs would always come and offer him money!
If you play less, you get less! Simples!

{Ed0333's Note - Hello Harry, I hope your well pal and having a fabulous weekend. Let’s deconstruct the bunkum that is your post. You contradict yourself so much I’m wondering wether your on a wind up but knowing you I’m sure you endorse your post and believe it to be Pulitzer Prize worthy. “He would be a free agent and will have no suitors or only the same set of suitors”. How can he be a free agent, have no suitors and have suitors and the same time? Furthermore I suppose you know better than his agents at Soccer Mondial with regards to his career. Do you really think the player is gonna retire after his Liverpool contract finishes? This is pointless I can’t be bothered to invest any more of my time on this anymore...

Since I assume we are paying him more in a week than most people make in a year, there must be some use we can put him to?

Making sure the footballs are properly inflated? Playing the Champions League anthem? Must be something . . .

It must have been a significant pay cut for him not to pursue it. I actually rated him but he's not of the quality we need now. Shaqiri is a better player so he's pretty much no chance of getting any meaningful minutes for Liverpool now. Like Ed002 said, there's still a chance he'll move to Portugal as their window is still open for another 3 weeks.
