Hi eds, I have seen an article saying that caceido could be available for 60 million now. Do you think we will end up signing him this window? We are definitely signing someone but would be good to know who we are seriously looking at. Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Moises Caicedo (DM/CM) Arsenal have enquired after his availability and been told he is not for sale. Prior interest of Manchester United, dating back before he joined Brighton, remains. Liverpool have not made any approach to Brighton although they may have an interest in taking the player. West Ham and Chelsea have an interest. Brighton will demand a very significant fee.

Caicedo would be great but still not enough. We need two now and one in the summer. Can’t see us getting Bellingham. City will swoop and pay the money and that will be that. We’ll be busy haggling over fee and add ons. FSG need to get the investment or move the club on. Get 3 great midfielders for the price of Bellingham anyway. Makes no sense to put all our eggs in one basket.

Caicedo would be great. But the cupboard is bare so it’s not likely to happen regrettably.

The cupboard is most certainly not bare, quite the contrary - where do you get this impression from!? Let me guess. West London?

Ed’s is the stance the same for McAllister? Have any enquiries been made for him?

{Ed002's Note - Yesy, but not Liverpool.}

Actually 47, it was from L4. Klopp literally said it himself. There’s no more money until more has been accumulated, those were his words. The cupboard is most definitely bare.

Caicedo changed agents, since he was told by someone that 'too many agents complicates things'. That usually comes before a transfer or new contract.
He also favours LFC, who have been following him since he was in Ecuador.
It now comes down to Bloom vs Ward. Clearly Bloom wants more than he got for the fullback sold to CFC. let's see what FSG and Ward are made of.
The Real game is around the corner. I can't face loosing to that bunch again.

“ There’s no more money until more has been accumulated, those were his words. ”

Really?
When/ where did he say those words?

must have been bare after they spent the last crumbs on Gakpo.

Those were not his exact words at all. Also Klopp is hardly going to come out and say he has bag fulls of money for a player is he?

Actually Victor - those were literally NOT his exact words.

If anyone can post a link to where Klopp said this, it would be greatly appreciated, because I can't find it anywhere.

“If there is something we can do and that means the right player and financial situation, we will do it. ” Jurgen Klopp (in the press conference prior to our New Year Game against Brentford 2023)

13.) 08 Jan 2023
08 Jan 2023 12:16:21
He was asked about collecting money in ‘Klopp's embargoed pre match Brentford press conference (filmed straight after the Leicester game) ’.

He has stated he was surprised about the Gakpo signing in January but time was right to do it and he talked about not having monopoly money and said the only way we will bring in other signings this window is if current players ask to leave.

Caicedo alone will not solve our problems and even if they did we shouldn’t be reliant on a single player to make a system work. The system is wrong for the players we have and we need to go back to how Klopp has hd us playing for the last few years, not Pep’s poor and failing imitation of City.

15.) 08 Jan 2023
08 Jan 2023 12:50:33
We would no doubt have to sell someone to raise funds. Who would we sell that is not too old/ injury prone/ inexperienced/ not good enough?
I think the cupboard is bare in that respect.

VVVV funny how ed002 said money was available.

£60m + £20m in add-ons maybe. That’s the price of fluffing the previous windows.

I’d move onto Kone, Kephren, Ugarte now. It’s not as if we need one player. We need 3-4 over next two windows.

It doesn’t matter who we bring in if we keep playing like we do.

I think it is correct that the system we are trying to operate has broken down. Hendo, for me, was what made the right side click and at times Gini did the same for the left side. Elliot and Thiago are possibly (certainly in Thiago’s case) better footballers but they are nowhere near as good off the ball. Our play has become slower and slower, offering more chances to concede possession, we don't counter press as well as 5 or six other teams in the league, and have huge gaps both centrally and out wide which shouldn't happen.
if this was champ manager, id have nunez and salah up top, trent RM in a 4-4-f***ing-2. But what do i know.

Correct Torbin. Thiago is a fantastic player but is he a square peg in a round hole. Was great to see Nunez’s goal last night it was a real throwback to the blistering counter attack goals we were once feared for. Now it’s sterile death by football. My worry is no matter who we bring in will it ultimately change anything?

If there was money available it would have been spent. Klopp has stated that before any more money can be spent the club needs to accumulate it. Ed002 has stated repeatedly that we’re run on a hand to mouth basis and we’re loaded up with debt by FSG, debt which needs to be paid before we can do anything else. It was plain in the summer that we were skint as we were chasing Laimer on a cheap deal as his contract is running down at the end of the window and ended up in the Juventus Bargain Loan Bin. Can’t see us signing anyone else this winter, also can’t see us making big changes in the summer.

Can’t say we haven’t been here before either, remember the centre back debacle? FSG wouldn’t stump up for another centre back when Lovren left and when the brown stuff hit the fan they waited to the last day and went the cheapest route they could do.

Anyone still deluding themselves that Bellingham or Fernandez are genuine options are going to be disappointed. I’d imagine that Matheus Nunes is phoning his agent and asking if he can get him somewhere else in the summer after seeing us at close quarter last night.

@VVVV; are you saying that whenever you have money you spend it all straight away even if what you are buying is not really what you want?

It’s a really life multi-million business run by people who are in it to make a profit, not an eight year old on the way to the sweetie shop with his pocket money - the club has and will spend where they see value for money and they are quite willing to adapt their plans to get what they want - Diaz and Gakpo for instance where they brought forward their plans.

23.) 08 Jan 2023
08 Jan 2023 19:24:53
FSG have loaded the club up with debt to its eyeballs. They’ve failed to maintain us being competitive and it’s painfully clear that last season was a swansong for this team. No champions league football and less commercial income as a result is going to bring the FSG house of cards falling down as it’ll be the same midfield next season as this with virtually no transfer budget. Defend FSG all you like right now, but when it all goes the way of Hicks and Gillett you can’t say you weren’t warned.

24.) 08 Jan 2023
08 Jan 2023 19:25:55
You don’t know that any of that is true VVVV. Please stop stating opinion as fact.

25.) 08 Jan 2023
08 Jan 2023 20:36:54
@VVVV, I’m not “defending” FSG. FSG have made mistakes - everybody does (especially me as it happens), but they have also done a lot of good and anybody who thinks that the club - team, squad, academy set-up, training facilities, ground - hasn’t improved since they took over is just wrong.

Of course improvement needs to be on-going and there is nothing wrong with people voicing concerns about the lack or slow rate of improvement. The thing is presenting opinions as incontrovertible fact and making declarative statements about what (in this case you) see as the only way the club can progress is at best misguided and at worst just random drivel without context.

If everything you say about the club is negative then you have to expect negativity in return. When all is said and done this is a Liverpool fans forum for (ideally light hearted) banter about things related to the club.

So, in the spirit of light hearted banter what’s the funniest thing you’ve ever seen at a Liverpool match?

VVVV we weren’t anywhere near the top 4 never mind being successful when FSG took over so your argument falls over straight away.
You make it sound like we were winning trophies every season until those pesky Americans came in and ruined everything when the opposite is true.
As for what Klopp says in press conferences if you truly believe everything a manager tells the press then I can’t help you.
The money is there but as per our transfer strategy since Klopp came in (which has made us very successful btw) we won’t move unless the right player becomes available.
I for one would rather us sign nobody in Jan if it means getting the right player in the summer.
I remember as a kid in the 80s I was saving to buy a BMX. I managed to save £65 but the BMX I wanted was £90. There was a lesser one for £65 and I couldn’t wait so I bought it and it wasn’t fast enough and was too heavy to make the jumps I wanted to make.
I still regret that impatience to this day.

The accounts don’t indicate this.

It seems to be a current theme though - make stuff up to suit your own negative agenda. It's comical to read though when you know they are talking crap just to justify their own misery.
