I've waited patiently and I'm not a patient man ?. Ed, what's your latest intel on Caicedo? Liverpool must remain some form of hope if they have yet to pull out of the deal? Also, if Chelsea up their bid what's stopping us from outbidding then again?

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea have been speaking with Brighton about him to see what can be done. There is nothing stopping Liverpool doing the same or indeed outbidding Chelsea again. The issue is the player wants to move to Chelsea.}

Ed, I don’t understand why we haven’t walked away from this. I am sure we have moved on from players in the past who didn’t show any desire to join us? Any thoughts on why this is different with MC? My very simple brain is not understanding the rationale behind this.

We need to walk away from this, seems to have been very poorly thought through. I'm not 'embarrassed' about it like some of those on here - I find it hard to believe we didn't have encouragement from someone involved with the player TBH - but I can't help feeling that we've been used to get a better price for him given that Brighton will now be wanting more than we offered.

I'm sure Liverpool will walk away when/ if Chelsea bid higher for him. I would think it's logical to wait for that to happen. Today should be telling. Just chillax.

Why do people keeping saying we didn't have encouragement. I thought liverpool approached reps and they said yes in principle? But final terms were not agreed. Hence we put the bid in.

Not liverpool fault they backtracked upon request by chelsea. Had chelsea said they are out of the fight, then im sure he would have signed for us. Either way, we need a DM so agree with most, we need to move quickly but not sacrifice quality.

A lot of talk of him being badly advised. Not just from a Liverpool perspective but a Brighton perspective too, not saying it’s true.

You sound embarrassed Johnny ? and Brighton accepted our bid already so increasing our bid wouldn't be required, it's convincing the player to come to us after he has already decided he wants to go to Chelsea this summer.

I'd gauge it 97% he goes to Chelsea now, 2% stays at Brighton and a 1% chance of Klopp and the team convincing him to join us.

Thanks Ed appreciate the input. I for one would not touch him with a barge poll, wrong attitude from him and his team for me. If he did sign inevitable that we would be a stepping stone for 3 years max.

We definitely had encouragement. 100 percent. The lad changed his mind. Pound signs started ringing! As ed1 says, he's a mercenary. Few weeks ago he wanted Arsenal! Follow the pound signs!

Personally, I'm moving on and hope Liverpool switch to a more realistic target now.

Sean Ireland, you sound confused. Where did I infer we'd need to up our bid? However it's obvious Brighton will now want more than we offered ergo we've been used to get more money for the player.

Brighton already accepted our bid. It doesn't matter anymore as Caicedo only wants to go to Chelsea this summer.
