Liverpool are working on a deal for Andre to join in January, been working on it long before the summer transfer window shut, they're hoping to get a deal done with Fluminense beofre the January window opens, apparently player is keen and no issues, Basically an agreement of a fee is to he decided soon.

I’d be happy with that and completes the midfield rebuild for me.

Very interesting if true L5. I would have thought we would have moved on with our midfield pretty well stocked after the summer window? Not sure we need another DM personally, but will watch with interest regardless.

Westwood who would you perceive to be our regular DM then?
Endo? Not good enough, a stop gap in my eyes as Klopp could get who he wanted.
MacAllister? Can play the role but more a CM for me
Gravenberch? Again could play the role but better placed as a box to box midfielder
Andre would be a top addition for me, though I would have thought the club would focus on 2 CB personally, VVD has limited time left and Matip is done, Gomez last season too for me.

Andre in Jan would be a great signing and fills the spot that Thiago will leave either in Jan or next summer.

As for CBs next summer we will have VVD, Konate, Gomez and Quansah we will probably sign one extra next summer to replace Mati and one the summer afterwards as a VVD replacement.

Really happy with how the rebuild has been completed.

The numbers just don’t add up to me SHughes. I think it’s a little early to judge Endo as not good enough given he’s played all of 5 seconds in a red shirt. On what basis are you saying he isn’t good enough? Most didn’t know he existed before we signed him so I doubt many have actually watched him play regularly or over a prolonged period and those that have watched him say he was an underrated performer in Germany. I remember many people saying Robertson wasn’t good enough because he came from a relegated team and look what happened there. For a long period arguably the best LB in world football.
So yeah I would say Endo is our first choice DM when he settles in. Stop gap obviously given his age but why would Klopp sign him otherwise? Then you have Bajectic coming through, and Gravenberch who can cover as well as you say and that’s not mentioning Morton either.
Anyway let’s say we do get Andre and skip ahead to Thiago leaving next summer. That gives us Endo, Bajectic, Elliot, Jones, Szlob, Mcallister, Gravenberch, Andre and that’s not including Carvalho who will return next year and not counting Trent who obviously wants to play there and is coming up to 18 months left on his contract so might ask for guarantees. So disregarding a youth player on the fringes, someone coming back from loan and a player that wants to move to midfield full time, that’s 8 players for 3 starting positions. We don’t need that many players IMO and all this is without going into the HG quota issue so who’s leaving? Who’s development is going to suffer so we can sign a player that again many people wouldn’t have heard of but now he’s going to be great because we want to sign him? Why is a 20 year old kid with no top league level experience better than an an experienced international captain that has spent the last few years playing in a top 5 league? Is it because he is Brazilian and therefore ‘better’? Is Endo not good enough because he was third choice after Lavia or Caceido? Salah was third choice as well. Not saying Andre isn’t good, I havn’t watched him so I can’t say and that’s kinda my point.
Sorry it’s all opinions I guess, and I would have stuck with just mentioning the numbers but your comment that Endo isn’t good enough is wildly premature in my eyes and not fair on him in the slightest. Many top performers under Klopps tenure have taken over 6 months to integrate and earn a starting position and He’s played less than a full half a footy match in a red shirt for Christ sake, give the bloke a chance.

Also I agree that CB should be a priority!

Reverse the 2 numbers Endo was purchased for and he'll become a fantastic player.

Don't forget that everyone on here watches every football match ever. Me personally, I've watched Endo play in more matches than he's ever been in.

You can forget Carvhalho he has burnt his bridges with Klopp, The only thing he will be doing when he gets back is clearing out his locker and finding another club to play for.

Andre would be a superb signing and if there is still a chance to get him, we should take it.

I agree with you about Endo, and I am confident he will prove his worth as the season goes on.

Not saying we shouldn’t get him either, but let’s Compare with the area of the pitch we say is the strongest - attack. We have 5 senior players and a promising youth player making 6 options for 3 positions. Full cover. Fine.
Let’s apply that to the midfield. Let’s say Endo, Macca and Szlob are the starters and Bajectic, Jones and Elliot are the cover/ rotation options (where does Gravenberch get minutes? ) . Let’s say Thiago and Carvalho go and Trent stays in the back line as well and now we buy Andre. Who’s leaving because I tell you what someone isn’t going to be happy with the lack of game time coming their way. It won’t be Jones and Elliot for the HG and club grown stuff. We won’t sell Szlob, Macca or Grav after one season and I refuse to believe we’d take a £16m hit for cover with Endo. If he doesn’t play we won’t be able to sell him either? He doesn’t exactly have time on his side to grow in value does he?
So again who’s leaving to make space? Hey maybe I’m wrong and Andre will come in and do great but I just don’t see it. I think the midfield rebuild is done and we will focus on defence and replacing Salah next.

I assume that Thiago will be heading out next summer so it is possible that there may be a spot to be filled.

If Endo is seen as a Millie-type Jack of all trades then it does, perhaps, make sense to bring in a DM. Bringing Andre in to the club in January would allow him to get up to speed for next season. The question that rises if we do sign him is what happens to Baj? Does he become understudy to Andre or does he move further forward?

Having an elite group of young players fighting for places can only be a good thing. The cream will rise to the top eventually, plus we have a strong shadow squad to play in the lesser games, all the while value is growing and young players are not being overworked. Those that don't make the grade can still be sold at a profit.
Admittedly, after Andre, who is not a straight up DM, the MF is going to look chockablock.

We should pipe our thoughts in a plan @Centrepoint. The young lads should all be approaching their peak just before the end of the decade. Perhaps we could call it the 2028 plan?

To play devil's advocate. Why would klopp play macallister, who played 2 games in South America and ended up on oxygen at the end of one, due to the altitude and only returned on Friday, over the japanese captain, who stayed in Europe? Klopp has obviously seen something in training that we have not.
