Who do you guys reckon is our best free kick taker in the current squad?

We used to have some great direct free kick goals but can't remember a single one since Gerrard left.

Barnes was great at them. Jamie Redknapp wasn't half bad. Fowler had that one that curled around the Man U wall, past the chip shop, around the pub then left Schmeichel 'standing in admiration'.

It's something we lack now, no?

I think Hendo takes most of them now but can't recall a goal .

So who do you think? Wonder why Coutinho doesn't take more .

Couts doesn't take them because he isn't good at them - he's clevcer and produces some great trick goals with free kicks, but you can't do a trick every time and his straight up delivery is poor. Of the regular starting squad it's probably Milner but everyone is average at absolute best, there is no-one I would call good. According to the Eds, Branagan and Texiera both have a decent one.

for me i think Sturridge is our best option, he can definitely hit them, but then he has to be in the box too and hasn't ever scored from a free kick i think. both Milner and Lallana have experience with free kicks but they don't score of them. Hendo and Coutinho do it for us but they aren't very good at it are they? haven't seen firmino fire it ever. So its an area where we lack

talking of free kicks Risse anyone? he surely hit them, Aurelio was awesome, Alonso and Suarez were good too. I think we really need to find a winger who has a wonderful delivery that can take corners and free kicks. only ones that come to my mind are Ronaldo and Bale :P :P now i say winger because that is one area we are going to sign a player in. dare i say we should sign bale! ( tbh he is everything we lack but it sooooooooo won't happen)

Brannagan is considered our best dead ball specialist which is saying something. hopefully either one of our current players can step up to the plate or someone who klopp brings in!

Coutinho is the best freekick taker. But he isn't that good.

lets just hope they can take a free kick better than they take the corners - been poor all season with corners. this float the ball in the box crap put a decent ball in with power.

We need to buy a winger or midfielder who can actually do corners and freekicks because they are such an important part of the game.

How friggin hard can it be for a professional footballer to take a set piece?
Just train the players we have to kick a stationary ball in the right area. Should be the easiest thing they ever learn.

You would hope so! An hour a day after training- rather than going home and playing on the PS4 perhaps!

Agree with Allyb, when last have we scored from a corner. New atevsompoor at them it begs belief.
