Ed002. Regarding the Left back situation. We're all aware we need one now with Enrique gone, Moreno not great defensively, Flannagan favoured more on the right and I remember one of the eds mentioning Gomez doesn't look like he has a future with us. I know hector, chilwell and more recently the young Villa lad has been looked at but is Brad Smith being totally overlooked? Has always seemed solid going forward and back. Seems a little unfair to be honest.

Shame, looked a nice player. Is LB now the main focus and do you see Amavi being seriously looked at?

Smith has always been an attack minded LB and if he cannot push Moreno at 22, I think it best to let the lad go. It was not so long ago that he wanted to leave either, and he has never been particularly effective as a defender even during his U21 days.

Simple question comes to mind, has someone badly got it wrong in the youth structure that we aren't seeing any development in key areas from that source or are there simply no players good enough coming through anywhere?

Both LBs have no interest in actually doing their jobs as in defending first and foremost hence, they should be gone or in Smith's case, coached up and if no progress is made, let go.
