Jesus. Apparently GW is due to come to Merseyside for medical. Do not want this to happen, why can't we put faith in Brannaghan?

I would happily take £15 million Zielinski than £25 million Wijnaldum.

15M for Zielinski who could not make the team for Poland: that same guy who was utter turd when played against Ukraine to then be taken off at half time. Sorry pal but GW is miles ahead than Zielinski who has potential but unproven.

{Ed001's Note - oh well if you have watched Zielinski once then you know all about him. This is the kind of post that just makes you look silly. One game in a crap tournament does not let you know if a player is any good or not.}

I agree that wijnaldum is probably the better overall footballer, and would probably contribute to us more but he's not the type of player we need right now. We are well overstocked in the forward positions. If he was a central midfielder then I'd have no problem but he isn't and zielinski is. How can wijnaldum be a back up target for someone that plays a different role? Their only similarity is that they are both forward thinking players.

Personally, I would prefer a more defensive minded midfielder because our problem was conceding not scoring last season. But I don't think that's what klopp is going for.

The Wijnaldum rumours do seem to be gathering pace. If the rumours are true then, given the position he plays, I'd be amazed if he wasn't a replacement for Coutinho.

Wijnaldum is certainty not a forward. I think there is a good chance Klopp will use the 3 man central modfield in a 4-3-3 a lot this season; the squad he is building and the recruits this summer points to a 4-3-3 and Wijnaldum will play in a 3 in midfield, not as a forward.

For once AG, I agree. I think he will play a slight variation on his classic 4-2-3-1 and drop the centre of that 3 into midfield for additional solidity. What that means for Firmino though, I'm not sure!

I really like wijnaldum, think he'd be a great player for Klopp. I think he could play the top of a midfield diamond or anywhere as part of the 3 behind the striker. I don't think we need him at all as we have multiple players in that position, so its a no from me!

I think it would depend on the opposition and the type of game/ situation we are in, but the 4-3-3 can easily be changed to a 4-2-3-1 with 1 substitution and Firmino can always play as a striker too.

Henderson, Wijnaldum, Grujic, Brannagan and even Milner (if he plays in central midfield) are all box-to-box players, and this is what makes me thinks Klopp is looking to play a 3-man central midfield. And of course, if you have 3 central midfield players, you need goals from midfield and wide areas and the signings of Mane and the potential signing of Wijnaldum makes more sense then.

Wijnaldum dropped by spurs- surprising at the price- could it be spurs will go for lallana?

Is there any chance we can just give the lad a chance if he does arrive to at least see what his attitude is like. Seems like lots are listening to others opinions and taking them on before he has been given a chance. Happens so often and generally as soon as lots of fans get on a players back they play consistently worse.
