Apparently Liverpool broke the record for distance covered i'm a match, at 117km. Not bad for the first game of the season!
On the note of training regimes, do you think arsenals injury record is so poor because of theirs? Wenger seems like the kind of manager who would be into all the sports science stuff and not train them hard.
Also, could that be part of the reason we picked up a fair few last season, because Rodgers trained them softly and they just weren't used to it when Klopp made them work hard?

Spurs have an average of 117.74km this year so not sure where your stat came from.

Most on opening weekend maybe?

Maybe it's me, but I don't see why these kinds of statistics are thrown around nowadays. Does it mean you played well if you've run further than the other team? Not having a go at anyone, just wondering.

Motion it's not just you its a pointless stat, take Lucas for instance, he will run less than most because he is usually in the right position. Whereas someone could charge up and down the pitch aimlessly and cover twice the distance.

If you outrun your opponent you are far more likely to win. No guarantee, but you put yourself in a better position. The type of running is also obviously important. 60-70 sprints/ player is what we want.

It was the highest distance Liverpool covered in the EPL under Klopp. Not highest ever not the highest any team has covered. Just since klopp joined it's the highest we covered.

I hate these stats. We run more than everyone else, big deal. Only matters if they play well.

Appparently its to do with arsenes pitch choice.

Tbere was an article a while back, its somethint different maybe sand. can't remember the details maybe one of the eds could further enlighten.

{Ed001's Note - the injuries? All excuses, it is simply that the players are not fit enough.}

As someone who uses Stats professionally, a word of caution. Context is everything: to interpret stats properly you need a good understanding of the situation to which they apply. Focusing on one stat, like distance run, is unlikely to be useful.

{Ed001's Note - it is pointless Andy, I have tried and tried to point out that stats need context to be of any use. No one listens. Companies like Opta continues to publish these useless stats and push them as important as it is good advertising for their services.}

The statistic was hugest ever since video tracking was introduced.
