Can anyone help me with the ruling behind champions league places etc.

For example, if we finish fourth this year and MUFC win the Europa, do we lose our place? Hopefully not.

that would only happen if say a team that finishes outside the top 4 win the champions league and a team outside the top four wins the europa league. then the 4 spot would not get cl.

I think the Europa league winners (if outside the top 4) get an extra slot (5 teams next year) . I think if Leicester or Man city won the champions league and finished outside of the top 4 they would take the place allocated to the team that finishes 4th.
