So after the Ed2 Sharkopod anyone else worried that we probably won't be looking at new CBs?

Matip has been pretty good in his first season and will hopefully improve more but is a good CB, however there's a slight concern with injuries so really good cover needed.

Lovren is not up to the week n week out rigours of a title chasing team which is what Klopp has said he is here to achieve but could be a reasonable good third choice.

Klavan is also not good enough and although he is a Klopp purchase I wonder does the manager feel this wasn't a great buy.
Gomez we all wish will be great but has barely played in a PL match so is completely untested and an unknown quantity so I see him as fourth choice but hopefully will take Lovren place as third then maybe into starting CB but there are no guarantees of this.

But what I believe we miss most in our CBs is a true leader who owns the defense, is vocal and drives the players around him on.
We also miss a CB who is a goal threat on set pieces, an aggressive guy who attacks the ball on set pieces.

So I think we need a top CB to come in as what we have has seen us ship so many poor goals this season and it seems a poor decision to go into another season with the same guys.

Would rather have Klavan starting then having Skrtel in the squad.

It worries me slightly, however I think our centre backs are left massively exposed by Clyne and Milner. They are both average defensively, both just charge forward without thinking about it, and both give the ball away far too often. It results in constant bombardments of long ball counter attack's, and crosses from wide areas.

People always blame our midfielders, but most goals we concede are either set pieces or hoof ball counter attack's from our play breaking down, usually at the fault of Clyne or Milner; they will either have made the wrong run or just misplaced a pass at least 10 times each every game. When teams break at us with passing or someone running more often than not Hendo and Gini mop it up.

I am hoping Arnold will start to play far more often next season though. He will be 19 which is the perfect age to break through. Then hopefully we sign a left back. I think that alone will take so much pressure off our centre backs and goal keeper. We do need to improve at set pieces but that is something we should be able to improve on the training ground though. Matip, Lovren and Klavan are all big guys who should be far more dominating in their own box than they currently are.

I'm more than confident that a centre back will be brought in to partner Matip. Klavan and Lovren aren't good enough for where we want to go. Also I hope both Clyne and Milner are replaced as well, both extremely limited. Trent to replace Clyne, sessongnon and perreira both brought too.

I really hope Sakho can be forgiven and make his way back into the team. Him and Matip would be quite a pair.

{Ed002's Note - It is not going to happen Eric. Klopp doesn't want him.}

I don't wish any ill on our manager but quite simply, he either fixes the team and our defensive issues, or will eventually get sacked. At this point i've lost all hope of any football manager doing anything that makes sense.
