To say that top for is not because we are great is very naive. That point total would have got us champion league in 9 of the 10 previous seasons. Easily. People forget how good we were before Christmas up until end of November.

Fair play Stand. Good man.

Fair play Stand, but I think regardless of Ajax result it's a bit misleading as Utd don't look anything like a settled side. It's been broadly stale football, only briefly lit up by moments of brilliance because you can afford the likes of Pogba, Ibrahimovic and Mkhytarayan, but I personally think Utd has been struggling to play as a team for a while now and Mourinho is no closer to finding the solution than Van Gaal was.

You really needed a Klopp or Emery, not a Mourinho. he doesn't suit they way United should play the game any more than he'd fit Liverpool (and I mean that as a complement for Utd, not Mourinho! )

Im happy with 76 points, we haven't fluked it at all. I see you have been drawn into believing all of jose's moaning rubbish about extra games. If you can't cope with it then boo hoo, you aren't good enough.

That said, i think its absolute madness that 2 trophies cannot be considered a successful season. Sure you have longer term problems that need addressing, but enjoy the trophies at the time while you can, you may find yourself reminiscing in years to come.

A record amount of points, and we are lucky to get top 4 because you and Arsenal were poor. I try to avoid stereotypes but United fans having no football knowledge is one I'm sure you've helped achieved.

Agree with some points stand but I have to say there was a time when you lot used to mock the Europa League, now it's a success you winning it. How the mighty have fallen mate. And I also agree that that old winge bag Mourinho isn't right for your team.

To be honest, Stand, at the start of the season I think any of us would have taken 4th. I think if the same question had been asked at Christmas, we would have rejected the offer in search of better things. Our record against the top 6 shows our potential, the way we have struggled against supposedly weaker opposition demonstrates the necessity to adjust our attitudes, and treat all games with equal importance. As much as I love Klopp, he needs to be more flexible in his approach to tactics and substitutions, and we need to be far more consistent if we are to actually challenge for the title. Due to our lack of consistent presence in the CL for a number of years now, we needed to overachieve to get back in the competition, and I guess many would probably argue that on paper there are more than 4 teams who have a better squad than us. First half of the season our performances were worthy of a top 2 finish, second half there were many occasions where we did not deserve European football, I guess 4th spot is a good compromise of the two Liverpools we've been witnessing.

To say we only got it because Utd and Arsenal were shocking is just arrogance though. It's about as useful as us saying Chelsea only won the league because we dropped off. They won because they took their chances, worked hard and deserved it. Whatever United and Arsenal do is not our problem, at the end of the day you weren't good enough to get top 4.

Winning the League Cup and Europa League would make your season a success, everyone likes winning trophies. But it would only be patching over some of the issues at your club. In my opinion an attitude change is needed from top to bottom. The success Fergie had brought you has created an air of entitlement to most people involved in the club, and you are not in that place anymore. Only Fergie could have got a league title out of those players that won him his last title. For years he built teams that did great things every season, no other manager could have done that. Jose isn't going to recreate that success and stability by chucking millions at top earning egos, who only care about lining their pockets and looking good on social media.

My brother is a massive united fan and he is much happier about where ManU are this season compared to last. I agree with him. Their standard of play has improved and you can see that there is an identity starting to emerge. Certainly they are much more watchable. Clearly they still have areas that need to be addressed and if they get even half of the transfers in Ed002's sharkopod they will be much more formidable next year.

As a side note I don't agree that the League Cup is a major trophy. Its a joke tournament that many clubs use to give their U23s a run. For mine, FA, Premiership, CL are what count at end of season. Anything else is just glitter.

{Ed025's Note - you must not have watched united much then phil, they have been as boring as hell all season and have in fact lost their identity under the special needs one, a united team that parks the bus is not exactly progress now is it?..
