Good morning all

Very pleased with the Mo Salah arrival I think he will fit into the team very well indeed.

Ed001, i've read down the page that you think our next move will be to sort out the VVD deal, I must say I am a little surprised by this given the clubs statement but I understands the points youve explained and I think the hardest thing might be Saints willing to talk to us, unless talks have already started again? My only worry is we don't spunk most of our budget leaving us short on funds in other more needed areas like LB. Also a right kick in the groin for Gomez, he isn't going to get a look in at all if another CB arrives. Thanks for your info again ed, have a good weekend mate.

{Ed001's Note - I am not necessarily saying we will buy him, but we will look to sort it out one way or the other. With Saints now taking legal advice over Aldridge's comments, they are also likely to push the FA to take action, so I expect us to try and do something about the situation. There are some people within the club that believe we are waiting on him to hand in a written transfer request to return with a firm offer, but I would rather we just tried to smooth the waters personally.

Either way, any action by the player will cause a reaction and it is expected that he will take action with a further transfer request, probably in writing, as he looks to leave. If he is not granted his request, he had indicated a willingness to go further, to get a move.

I would hope that he was just upset and will calm down and realise that the best thing for his career is to just sit down with Southampton and agree to stay for a season, give his all, then leave next summer. However, he has indicated, which is part of the issue with all of this, that he believes he was promised that he could move on this summer.}

The first action LFC need to take is tell the legends to keep the g**s shut. Do these idiots not realise they are simply making things difficult for the club? Aldridge should be given a strong lettered word by the club to watch his mouth. If someone else told one of our players to force a move out publicly, how infuriated will those connected to LFC feel?
Imo, we should just forget about VVD and move on. Last thing we need is a transfer ban.

{Ed001's Note - we need to do more than just forget, we need to make it right with Soton. Then we need to make it right with any other club we have dumped on in recent years too and start acting correctly in the transfer market. We do not need to cheat, to cheapen ourselves by tapping up players. We are a huge club, we are a big draw to many players, there is no need to do anything shady to attract quality players to the club.}

Owe I see what you are saying now mate thank you for spelling it iut for me. A good solution might well be we smooth it all over with them and pursue other CB targets.

Wow! We can't really blame the saints for the willingness to talk legal advice against Al's statement. Immediately I read about it, I was pissed personally. Although he has come out to say he was misquoted.

{Ed002's Note - The club really need to clean up their act and get the manager, at least one member of the coaching staff and former players to tow the line. It goes well beyond an ex-player saying "he would be a great buy" to making suggestions that the player could force a move by striking.}

This type of behavior makes me so ashamed.

It was poor of Aldridge. Another showing of how irresponsible the club management team currently are acting.

His comments were inappropriate but Southampton won't get anywhere with there legal advice unless Aldridge is employed by the club. Is that the case eds?

{Ed002's Note - Really, that is what you think? Liverpool have for a long time been dreadful in their transfer dealings. The board trailed slime as the grovelled with Fulham to stop a complaint to the FA. Two warnings last season as I explained; caught again this season with manager acting in the most disgraceful manner; a grovelling apology and confirmation that interest has gone. Already banned and fined this season for tapping up another player. A separate court case pending about fouling up a child's career. A previous captain bragging about how he would illegally approach players he didn't know on behalf of the club. Now an ex-player and a regular paid contributor to LFC TV coming out with such a statement about another club's player.}

have to agree with the eds on this, we don't need to be doing this sort of thing, we should be conducting ourselves in a professional manner, other clubs may do it too, but we are public with how we do it, which really is a disgrace.

I mentioned a few seasons ago that fiorentina have zero interest in working with LFC again after having many issues with Aquilani siging and then again with Lucas. It's not a recent problem and is not restricted to just current staff or executives. This is a problem infesting the entire club and they have been aware of this for a long long time and done nothing about it.

I am not disagreeing with you Ed002. I'm sick of the way the club has acted and continues too. I just think the state of the media and all there false news and freedom of speech etc it would be difficult for them to take action against Aldridge. That being said I wouldn't argue if they were successful in there legal advice. I'd be happy to be proved wrong as his comments were stupid.

The club and how Klopp acted that's different imo, it's a no win situation for the club. Personally I would think that even though a ban would hurt specially in the short term it would be the right thing to happen by the letter of the law. A statement does need to be made, seems the club never try and clean up there act. Hopefully something serious like a transfer ban against first team players would start a change.

{Ed002's Note - Who has suggested "action" against Aldridge? You don't seem to be able to grasp the situation here - and why start against the media and what has this got to do with "freedom of speech"? I guess you don't understand what that is either.}

HI Eds
Is the legal action with Liverpool or John or both. Also I think you said the best thing mite be to sigh vvd to make it right and not leave him in limbo. Is this still the case. Or are we best saying sorry again and walk away?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about. Liverpool's position was made clear in a statement from te club.}

Ed, im not getting dragged into this argument and I agree with everything you have said regarding our club doing things incorrectly and making a complete mess of the whole situation. Regarding the player, have Chelsea now made a new bid for him?

{Ed002's Note - Try the Chelsea page. This is the Liverpool page.}
