Afternoon all, Eds in regard to the expansion of anfield I've seen the work they are doing to the Kop as we speak, although any amount of seats added is a bonus will the club eventually build the kop higher and further back or will the work be done after the corners of the stand are expanded?

{Ed002's Note - This is probably just finishing off what wasn't completed last summer. The Phase 2 will be adding seats to take it up to the final 60k limit but it will likely not be financially viable to do it just yet. The plans can probably be viewed on the Liverpool City Council or club website - someone may even be able to provide a link.}

Correct me if I'm wrong but its not the Kop that will get any larger expansion outside of the current disabled facilities being renovated.

The Anfield Road end is the proposed next phase of expansion.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea - it is a long time since the plans were submitted and it will be a while before any work is done.}

Bobby is correct. It's the anfield rd not the kop.

I live the other side of Stanley park (unfortunately) and I see anfield more or less every day, the club have took the two corners of the kop away to join onto the main stand and the centenary stand and that is not the disabled section.

Thanks very much Ed I will have a look through the city council website now, was it originally planned to expand the kop last summer though Ed? I thought plans were for the main stand and anfield road originally. I was quite surprised when the club started work on the kop.

The Kop is set for a summer makeover with Liverpool FC looking to add a further 470 seats to the world famous stand.

The proposed building work forms part of a planning application submitted to the city council as the Reds look to improve provisions for disabled supporters ahead of the 2017/ 18 season.

Around 1,000 seats will need to be moved in order for Liverpool to meet the requirements of the Accessible Stadia Guide. The number of wheelchair bays will be increased from 195 to more than 250.

The changes will have an impact on general admission seats and some season ticket holders will also have to be relocated elsewhere in the stadium. However, Liverpool insist that Anfield’s 54,000 capacity won’t be reduced as a result of the changes.
