Spending big doesn't mean you're competing for the 'big names', ed025, just means you're paying the English club premium for average players :p.

{Ed025's Note - i think we are all doing that zpecialone but i would class our purchases as high end talent mate.. :)

Credit where credit is due in my opinion. They've signed decent enough players (apart from Rooney) . Biggest thing what's impressed me is how their owners have got their business done early, no messing about, no fuss, no tapping up, job done. Life as a Liverpool fan would be a lot easier should we have got the signings we wanted within the first 5 days.

Come on Harry we've got decent prices for the 2 players we've signed this window, we are hardly throwing money away (I wish we would throw some away on Mendy to be honest! ) .

I think your transfer business looks really good so far Ed025. 75mil for Lukaku is excellent given how capricious he is on the pitch - he'll do well at United i'm sure but never at 75mil player in my book. The rest of the players you've signed are smart additions - Klaasen is an excellent player and that young Nigerian is supposed to be mustard. The only one which doesn't make sense to me is Rooney. What are your thoughts on him? And how many more arrivals do you expect at Everton?

p. s. sorry to be asking on this page, having major issues with my log in and this is the only place allowing me to post.

{Ed025's Note - im very happy with the way things have gone seano, some great business i think and sandro looks a steal at just over £5m, i was not keen on wayne coming back myself but koeman wanted him so i will bow to his superior knowledge of the game and now hes here will get my full support, another 2 or 3 ins would be the order of the day with a target man like giroud the priority, and even though we have spent big i still feel there is more to come mate..

Hi Ed25, Just a note of caution on Sandro, We once signed a Spanish lad who looked a snip, called Aspas, didn't work out for us. But at £5million its definatley worth the risk.

{Ed025's Note - since he left john he seems to have improved and i think you may have been a bit hasty on that one mate..

Everton done well so far but the loss of Lukaku will be hard to compensate.

The new owners you have definitely look to be making a statement about their ambitions and were they want the club to be moving forward - I fancy you's will be a lot closer to the top 6 (and dare I say top 4) this season.

I forgot about Sandro! Great price and a smart addition, your squad is looking much more solid that it has done before - I think having a thin squad has been your downfall before as, with injuries, you's have tended to slump. Looking better for you this season though. I would swerve Sigurdsson if I were Everton though - 50mil is just stupid, never is he worth that much.

{Ed025's Note - gylfi at £30m looked good business to me seano but the swans are obviously keen to keep him and have priced him out of the market, we are now able to compete for the higher end players thanks to mr moshiri and the sky money so no excuses for us now mate..

@ed025: Can't wait for Salah to make your high end talent look foolish :p

@if you know me: Refresh my memory, but when did we sign Ox for £30million? Also, I don't see how I'm being biased. I do not particularly rate the players Everton have signed so far with the exception of Klaasen. Pickford is certainly no £30million keeper. With the way he's been playing, Rooney might as well have retired 5 years ago. They've spent big on players but what does that even mean? Remember Spurs when they sold Bale and went the full hog to replace him by signing half of Europe for £15m-£30m a buck, only to realise that they were all crocks. Although to be fair, with Walsh as Everton's DoF, it'll be interesting to say the least to see how their new players fare.

I give credit to Everton for doing their business quickly and with minimum fuss (how have they not tapped someone up yet?! Isn't that how transfers work? ), but I do not see them seriously challenging for a top spot next season.

{Ed025's Note - salah has tried (and failed) in the EPL before zpecialone so making our recruits looking foolish is a bit premature, i sense a bit of fear from some of your guys who are running down our purchases on here and although i dont expect miracles i think we will be a more formidable adversary than we have been for a very long time...game on mate.. :)

We also once signed a spanish lad called Alonso, look how that turned out :) . Too early to judge Sandro mate.
