Ed001.If you're about mate.

Five mins away from the monotonous VVD and Keita posts.

Which team do you think has strengthened best so for, targeting and landing players where they have needed to strrenghthen.

{Ed001's Note - probably City.}

Pep has clearly identified a weakness in his side and is spending big to fix it. Only just realised today he has spent over 110million pounds on fullbacks alone.
It certainly is a new transfer world.
But his side is definitely looking formidable now - if he can get them to gel and implement his tactics.

It will be us once we've signed VVD and Keita. Oops, sorry Nicky.

City without a doubt. The money spent has been obscene but they have replaced their ageing fullbacks with those that possess lots of pace and offer width. Bernardo Silva is class and I believe Jesus is going to be on of the best in his position in the league.
LFC tbh have not really improved on last season's squad (bar Salah) . Add Keita and VVd to the squad and then maybe we might challenge for the title.

City spent roughly the same amount on kyle walker as we did on salah, robertson and solanke.

My issue with Pep is his lack of intent to developing any of the talent already theee when he arrived.

Stones 50mil
Bravo 17mil
New gk (can't remember name) 35mil (ish)
Mendy 50mil
Walker 50mil
Gundogan 25mil
Sane 40mil
Gabriel Jesus 30mil
Bernardo Silva 45mil

He has basically bought 8 of his starting 11 in 1 year and spent £320 mil. If he wins the league, is that really a big well done? Great coach or blessed with rich clubs and endless spending power?

Guardiola, in terms of the teams he has managed, is surely one of the luckiest managers of the modern era. He inherited a Barcelona side with the burgeoning Messi, Eto'o in his prime, Iniesta, Xavi in his prime, Busquets, etc etc and with a cheque book to sign players he felt needed. He then went to Bayern who have by far the best squad in the Bundesliga, the most money to spend and who had come off of a treble winning season (! ) . He is now at arguably the richest club in England - completely bombed first season despite having a squad filled with talent and expense - and has now outlayed a supreme amount of money again in order to compile the team he wants. A complete chequebook manager - give me the teams and resources that man has had and I bet you I win games. If he doesn't win at least 2 trophies this season (League must be one) then it is a complete and utter failure for them - if they do it's nothing more than you would expect really.

Spot on 87red. He has spent a lot of money but really, their fullbacks are still suspect defensively. Walker has no end product. Mendy has some but is woeful defensively ans as for the GK, time will tell. The best way to play against City if you are LFC, is to give those FB's pace to defend against and that is where we will have the upper hand. Salah and Mane on the flanks will slow the penchant for plying those FB's high up the pitch. That is one part of their system neutralized. The rest, we shall see. City has spent a lot and if they win the PL, it won't be a big deal. Now if they don't, Pep's in trouble.

Stick Guardiola in charge of Bristol Rovers with a one million pound budget and see if he can get them to the Premier League.
