Is there some kind of automatic penalty for doing this? For example, I keeping reading about 5% of transfer fee?

Do all contracts include a "transfer request penalty clause? " If so, is it subject to change?

So part 2. I know you don't like talking about money, but assuming the transfer goes through, has Phil just forsaken over four million quid, or would the
loss likely be compensated via a signing bonus or some such incentive? Perhaps via an increase wages?
Just curious about it as it's a lot of money to be missing out on, even if you aren't exactly going to be starving!
