Instead of people complaining about us not signing our long term targets, please offer your insights as to who we should sign as alternatives, assuming we can't get Van Dijk and Naby.
Let's assume Coutinho is made to stay, please fire off your realistic signings for CB, DM/ CM and any other position you feel needs strengthening with the fee you expect to have to pay also.

I don't watch nearly enough football outside of LFC and Ireland to give an answer on this, tbh. Also I think a lot our problems in the past season have been down to concentration, mentality and lack of leadership rather than lack of ability.

It's kind of hard to scout what sort of mental toughness a player has unless you watch him for 10+ straight matches or so. Benedikt Howedes looks decent, for example, but I haven't watched him enough to know whether he'll be like Lovren and switch off when the opposition attacker isn't right in his face.

I think Henderson is a great player but when he is the pick for the armband, it really shows what a lack of leadership there is in the squad.

Howedes is a great shout. I'd personally try to rival City for Johnny Evans. I know he played for United but that doesn't seem to bother him if he's considering a move to their Manchester rivals. He's a great defender and leader.

I'm not convinced by the current squad no but I'm going to trust the manager.
Personally think we need a CB, DM and AM/ ST.
I'd go for Evans too yes, Sami Kheidera even though he's very injury prone for his experience and fire a few million at Leicester for Vardy if we can get a couple of good seasons from him, even at 30.
If Coutinho goes, I'd love us to go for Roberto from Barcelona.

I will throw a few in from left field so to speak. As an alternative to NK I would go for Bart Ramselaar from PSV not sure how much maybe 15-20m and can also cover as a winger and as an alternative to VVD I would say Kostas Manolas from Roma is certainly the type of player we could do with. I would also like Diego Godin but not a hope in hell of getting him :)
