Klopp has been at the club for two seasons now. He should have been able to identify areas in our game that needed improvement. The problem was clear as day, the defence. Can you say the defence has, in any way, improved since Klopp joined the club!? No, I didn't think so.

Klopp has had two years to select players for his team and to remove the deadwood. Lovren is deadwood. How Klopp hasn't moved him on, I do not know. Klopp clearly sees a weakness in our defence, otherwise, why would he go for Van Dijk. He was unable to get the Southampton man and should have moved on to look for other players of equal quality. He didn't. He allowed Lovren to return to our starting 11. Now, in 7 matches we have conceded 13 goals. We are haemorrhaging goals at an alarming rate. The danger signs were there, for the last two seasons. And, Klopp has not dealt with the problem.

Klopp has brought in a number of players for his defence. Robertson, who has had one great game and then been allowed to just stagnate despite a hectic schedule. Matip, a player who seems afraid to get involved for fear of getting hurt, lacks conviction in his decision making, dallying and allowing players to run by him. Karius, a player Klopp believes has the skills to be our number one, gives the lad a run of games and then, at the first sign of dissent from the crowd, drops him for a player that was considered unsuitable.

Then you have Moreno, the man was with us all of last season but lost his place to James Milner. Milner is an absolute professional, but, he is no defender and Klopp decided to move a centre mid into the left back position for the majority of last season. Moreno barely got a game. Then, because of a few decent games in pre-season, which I consider inconsequential, Moreno was brought back to the starting 11. Despite being absent for an entire year. Moreno still makes the same mistakes but, I will admit, he is showing signs of improvement.

Klopp deserves to take some slack. Rodgers received a heap of it, making decision that we did not agree with, playing players out of position (Which Klopp has done more and to a worse extent) and we battered him. Why does Klopp get a reprieve? What has he actually done to deserve your allegiance?

Now, before anyone jumps down my throat, I will say this. I do not believe there is a better manager, available, that could do any better than Klopp. He is, in my opinion, the right man. However, Klopp needs help. Someone needs to talk with him and advise the need for additional coaches. Obviously, a defensive coach, someone who can instruct discipline and structure. Klopp won't like it, he is a stubborn man, but it is clearly needed. Klopp does not know how to set up a team evenly, he focuses on attack. The gap between our back four and midfield has been appalling since Klopp took over. If that was seen to, and our structure was better, I believe Klopp could take us quite far. However, he needs help. If he does not accept this help then I feel we will have a repetition of poor defensive perfomance undermining our brilliant attacking displays.

I hope I am wrong, and apologies for going to long, but this is a major issue that has been on my mind for so long. I love Liverpool but they are killing me every single week. Klopp needs to be held accountable for poor performance but, rather than simply criticise, why don't the club actually help the man. At least, that is my opinion.

Spot on. It is so disheartening to think of where we could be and achieve if we had even an average defense let alone a world class defense. To say there was NO ONE available that wasn't an improvement on what we have is laughable because nearly anyone would be. Let the youth play if nothing else! If we fail to make champions league next year for me klopp has to go. He will have had 5 transfer windows without improving the defense. He will be culpable and surely no one else can take the blame.

Klopp won't accept any help. He is too stubborn and proud for that.
He has failed to grasp the fact that titles are won by having at a bare minimum a decent defence. If he feels there are very few defenders that can adapt to his ridiculous high press, then maybe he should change tactics a bit. A world class coach makes adjustments to suit the players at his disposal. At least that is what every LFC fan thought when Klopp made big promises to the owners when he got the job.
I am not frustrated with Klopp's impact so far, just disappointed. I expected better but another season of this ineptness and he might go down as the man who failed to live up to his billing as LFC manager more than Brendan himself.

{Ed001's Note - how do you know Klopp will not accept help? If he is too stubborn and proud, what do his assistants do then? Do you think they are just there to hold his coat while he does it all? This is just you having digs at Klopp now. Unfounded digs.}

Hyypia may help, but Klopp won't add him, I guess.

{Ed001's Note - in what way would Hyypia help? He is a bit old to play and he showed in his stints in management no clue about coaching defences. Being a good defender does not make you a good defensive coach. The best defensive coach in recent years was George Graham but he played as an attacking midfielder.}

Their second goal was a quick throw in that took out four of our players, nothing to do with coaching.

Well said Mango. I think we all want klopp to succeed but regardless of how or why our defense just sucks. And we are correct to blame Klopp. I have some optimism with our young backs and even Moreno a tad but Lovren and Matio have regressed. We need to do something in the transfer market I am afraid as we have three guys who should be back ups at best and two of them are debatable whether they are even EPL quality at all.

Jesus, I thought I wrote novels.
Technically Loop has only completed one full season.
Last season when we got CL.
I honestly still think he'll fix the defence by the end of next summer. It took him 2 summer windows to get out attack sorted. He has bought a great prospect in Kits for next year for midfield. Karius and Ward will fight for the keepers spot so that leaves the CB position.
It's not Football Manager on your laptop, it does take time to get in the right player. World class CBs are hard to find.

Pls, people should stop projecting their opinions as facts as it is becoming pathetic. "Oh, Klopp is too stubborn" or "he won't take the help" "he's too proud" or blah, blah, blah. No one knows what is going on and no one knows if the help has been offered, if he asked for it or not. Your opinions are not facts so stop posting them as definitives. All we know is what Ed01 tells us and if you have info to prove him wrong, provide it. If you don't, then do us all a favor and stop projecting, and using it to take shots at the manager. It is cowardly and dishonest esp. if you have no clue what you are talking about.
