With all the cribbing since 4:50pm or so on Saturday, a fair bit of it coming from me tbh, I'd just thought I'd highlight a positive.

This is in my post history from 2014:

"Team: Mignolet, Manquillo, Skrtel, Toure, Johnson, Lucas, Gerrard, Allen, Henderson, Sterling, Lambert"

You have to say, player for player, we're quite a bit better than that now.

3 years. You don't realise how fast players come and go until you look back.

Our current front 3 or 4 is terrifying. Nice to see and long may it continue.

Something Red, we are miles better than that team you just put out there and the results are there to prove it, overalL. Only player I would take back from that team is Lucas. The rest? No thanks. We just have to keep working hard and adding better pieces to the puzzle till we get to where we wanna get to. The constant whining and moaning over the obvious is not my thing and never will be. Why? We can do NOTHING about it right now until the TW opens again.

The squad has definitely improved, Bingo, and that's why I posted this, just to remind people of that. But the leaders and the strong personalities we had under Rafa that left or retired in the past few years weren't replaced by Kenny or Rodgers and haven't, as yet, been replaced by Klopp. And that's a big chunk of the problem. Trying to infer a player's personality from what they do in the pitch is the hardest part of scouting, so in a way it's kind of unreasonable to judge the manager too harshly for it.

My gut tells me Keita will help a lot in that respect, and I do wonder would things be shaping up differently if we got him this window along with van Dijk, but we didn't. And it's just a gut feeling. He might be a quiet little mouse.

And Gerrard surely?

Spot on, Something Red. VVD is captain of Saints and Keita is the driving force at RBL so they may have some leadership qualities within them. We shall see. I also see that Can may have some in him too that just needs to be unleashed as Germans are known for their mental toughness and hatred for losing. Can has proved us right with his work ethic and attitude to pay thru injury for the good of the team. We will see.

Superred, I did not pick SG as he was already on his last legs. Sorry, my friend.

That team would have beaten Burnley.

I checked the posting date against our 2014-15 season results, and apparently that team played against Ludogorets Razgrad. 2-2 draw.

But it would've beaten Burnley, yeah? Whatever you say mate.
