I am not Hendersons biggest fan if I'm honest, but wether it's down to a 3man midfield and he can't get used to it I don't no but iv to agree with 'oirish kev' in saying that he looks very edgy with the ball and not to sure what to do with it so he plays it safe. he plays like a defensive midfielder when he has the ball, instead of quick pass forward to turn it into attack, and is can be drawn out of position when opposition are on the attack when he has to be in the center mid of defence position. i do think there is better in him but he needs to come of of his shell and show it.

Good post mate. Hard to argue any of it. I think you've nailed his biggest weakness without just being a troll. Hopefully if/ when his heel improves he will have a bit more confidence in himself and find a bit more composure. It's far too easy to forget he has only played about 25-30 games in the holding role and is still learning the position. I also think he misses Lallana and Coutinho massively. We have very little movement in between attack and midfield right now. Can, Wijnaldum and Milner are linear movers. They go forward, or backwards. Lallana and Coutinho make diagonal runs in between the lines which opens open passing options for Henderson from deep, so we need them all fit and on form before we can judges gone to be honest. I think Henderson has started badly this season, but if you can name one of our midfielders who hasn't then I'm impressed! Can has been the best of a bad bunch with two good games to his name against Arsenal and Hoffenheim (second leg) .

He is not suited to play the deeper role and anyone without Red tinted glass could spot it! Liverpool should either buy one or play Can there as temparory! Dier plays for England and not Hendeson! And he is not even close to Dier in that role! He is a ball winner and he could win it pressing the opponent. But that's where it ends. He doesn't posses the vision or intellegnce to quickly translate into an attack!
Nice lad but limited player!

Why add the rose tinted bit Harry? It is unnecessarily incendiary. Anyway, i don't think he is fit and am not sure it is his best position but his is far from terrible when fit. I don't disagree with the Can solution or the need for a proper DM in the squad.

That was overlooked in the summer as Klopp thought his CM's would do the MUlLTI TAKSING job quite easily and comfortably. Now he realize that's not the case. He would
buy one in the summer I hope he buy a world class
One and not another make shift!

Play Hendo little higher up and change his duties to a BALL WINNER! He would do good! Now that will lead to a different question, why on earth did we even buy Wijnaldum then lol!

He Always seems to pass backwards or to the side.
Bang out of form since the injury.

I was a fan of Hendo's before the injury. I didn't think he was irreplaceable but I appreciated his role in the team. Now he looks a shadow of his former self. I think he's either going to have to continue nursing that injury or be moved on. Right now he hasn't been good enough, but I hope he can get over that injury.

For the first couple of years henderson was at Liverpool I was his biggest critic. I couldn't understand how he got games and he was one of my least favourite players. Something changed with him though, about four years ago and it was if he was a different player. I don't know how he did it but the change was amazing. He went from a player who constantly skied it or gave it away to a player who knits the whole team together. I can't put across how little I rated him and what he had to do to win me over but he did it. Fair play to the lad.

Harry, your next username should be "Constructive criticiser" 😉.

He can't tackle either. When he do 8 out of 10 times its a free kick. He shy's away from tackles dutying others to take the tackle. I have never seen him beat any player going forward with the ball. I specifically watch him when he has it because I also want to see what most rate him on. I support him as a Liverpool player but don't think our defence will get any better with him in that position. Agree maybe further up he would do better but we have more talented players filling those spots.

What exactly was his position at Sunderland? I remember Kenny said Hedo had the best record of killer passes there!

I watched a decent video the other day about hendo. it illustrated how he compares to other cms and dms. as much as I now hate to say this I think he offers very little. yes he keeps the ball moving but he rarely plays a forward pass and any slide passes are near on non-existent. he never bursts past anybody and when he is put under pressure he just gets rid, rather than show strength to shrug players off. i know he's our captain but I now think he is easily replaceable and it's time for change.

He played Right wing in a 4-4-2 at Sunderland mate.

That video was rubbish. Incredibly one sided and agenda driven. That being said, i agree that he isn't irreplaceable.

Quality support for the players so far this season, when does the collection start for the banner saying "you're all useless, overpaid tossers who should f*** off"?

Calling out that Hendo is not in good form and that it may not his best position, while only opinion is not suggesting he is useless or has no positive sides. Its just an observation. I personally rate him when fit and think much of the slander or repeated and constant negativity is pretty rough given he is one of ours and works his socks off.

Everyone keeps saying " when fit when fit". He's clearly not fit so why continue to play him. Give him some time on the bench. Get him fit off the park. I like his attitude and he's a grafter no doubt but he's not and never will be a captain for me. Too negative in his play and doesn't do the necessary dirty deeds needed of a captain. Klopp needs to drop him and have a reshuffle. Give Can the armband for a bit. See if he rises to it.

Not against most of what you are saying bar the Can as captain bit. That being said, i prefer multiple leaders and not as much importance on who the captain is.

Before his injury last season, Hendo was the most effective #6 in the PL, stats wise as he led every passing statistic known to man as a midfielder at the halfway point of the PL, all while he was actually learning a new position. He had 4 assists and scored to me, goal of the season until Can stole his thunder. We struggled mightily when he was absent and many one here said so at the time until Can and then Lucas took over. Now many are now saying he is not good enough to play there.

Sorry, both of those cannot be right at the same time as that is factually impossible esp. knowing about his heel issue and game rustiness as of now.

Now, is he Xabi? No. Can he get better in that position? Of course. He had 4 assists last season which shows he is able to switch defence to attack. His passing ability was very good last season as well, IMO.

The heel issue tho may have taken it's toll and cos he is trying to find form, playing it safe can be understandable as that is natural. The main thing here is will this heel issue prevent him from being fully optimal in his performances and if the answer is no then, Can should play there for now and then the issue can be re-evaluated in the summer.
