Good post and good points but for me could we do any worse than giving ward a run in the team.

Karius made lots of mistakes last year. in the same week Mingo saves a penalty to win us a game Karius let's the ball slips through. What do you really expect posters to say.

{Ed001's Note - in the same week Mignolet gave away the penalty and made 6 or 7 other mistakes you mean? Including flapping at a cross he should have easily taken which led to a goal.}

Comparing Karius to Migs itself make him average. Any other keeper would save that goal yesterday. It doesn’t matter who is in charge, we let goals in!
How easily you said that lol “ Grow up! Karius let in a soft goal “ Their only shot on target!
The actual point is neither we brought good defenders nor good GK’s and we face the consequences week in week out!

RIGHT ON BROTHER! You're totally right mk. I am proper pleased that klopp is our manager but the one thing I don't agree with is this constant keeper rotation. Give karius the shirt and let him grow into our permanent goal keeper. I have a feeling we have not even seen 50% of what he can do. Playing at a big club in front of tens of thousands of people must be proper heavy at first but you get used to it, humans adapt but they need time to do it. Pull up the weed that is mignolet. I have this feeling karius is going to become one of the best keepers in the league. He is awesome in training. I hate using the word "awesome" but it fits the bill here. Cool post MK 😎.

Thought it was a good free kick myself, sometimes keepers will save them, sometimes not, it was traveling at speed and swerving plus did Karius even have a good view of it over the wall? I don't know.
What I do know is that he's a much much better keeper than migs any day of the week.

Good post mk.

I agree with WCD. Karius should not be compared to Mignolet. Is that all he has to do, be better than Mignolet, to escape scrutiny? He plays for one of the highest profile clubs in world football, he's going to get constant scrutiny. He was never good enough to start in the premier league for LFC. Klopp started him, he threw games for us, his confidence went. Once a GK loses confidence it takes years for them to regain it. Argue with me as much as you like but I've seen it over many years watching football. It's usually a young keeper and they usually get their confidence back when they hit their late 20s early 30s.
In 5-6 years time in a lower profile club, Karius will get his confidence back and he might be one of the best keepers around. But I'm sorry, IN MY OPINION based on decades watching football, it'll never happen at LFC or any club of similar profile.

Ed001, Mingo is decent at best but he is better than the others. We had few of those differences through out the years and here is another, Mark my word Karius will never be long term number one keeper at LFC and as for Ward, if he is at the club next year he will be the backup keeper.

{Ed001's Note - how do you know he is better? Mignolet is far from decent, at best he is a poor Premier League keeper. As for Karius, I have no idea how good he is as he has not had much of a chance. Ward I watched a bit for Huddersfield and he looked a far better keeper than Migs, though it is a very low bar. I would take either of them over Mignolet every day of the week. Mignolet is so bad Rodgers dropped him for Brad Jones, let that sink in, Brad Jones was seen as a better bet! My mother is a better keeper than Brad Jones, even when her sciatica is playing up.

I wish someone could explain to me in what way Mignolet is better. His shotstopping is awful, he barely ever stops a shot, sometimes even when hit at him. He flaps at crosses, his positional sense is terrible and he is a coward who is scared of getting hurt, hence the flaps at crosses and ridiculous penalty he gave away at the weekend. I won't even mention his distribution, which is quite frankly embarrassing and his kicking is on a par with a small child learning how to kick a ball for the first time. So what exactly does he do so well that some people think he is a better option?}

Harry you've quite simply missed the point, just like you always do. Karius could be a good keeper, but nobody is prepared to let him settle into the team and build up some confidence. He has made one mistake that cost a goal. Get over it. Mignolet has made 7 this season which led to a goal just off the top of my head.

Migs mistakes:

Watford first goal is straight at Migs who flaps. Goal.

Watford 3rd goal is straight at Migs, who falls over himself. Goal.

City first goal Migs charges out with his angles all wrong allowing Aguero to walk past him without a challenge. Goal.

City offside goal Migs is in no mans land flapping. Very fortunate. No Goal.

City 4th goal he is beaten at his near post. Goal.

Burnley goal Migs positioing is all over the shop. Goal.

Leicester first goal Migs is flapping at a corner (seeing a pattern here yet? ) . Goal.

Leicester 2nd goal Migs flaps at a soft shot and pushes it straight to Vardy. Goal.

Leicester Penalty Migs cowardly half pulls out of a challenge and brings Vardy down. Very lucky that Vardy then smashed the resulting penalty straight at him. No goal.

7 errors punished, 2 got away with in 5 games. Total: 9

Karius errors:

Took too long to kick against Arsenal and nearly lost the ball, but got away with it. No goal.

Spartak soft free kick, Karius got his wall wrong nd blocked his own line of sight. Goal.

1 error punished, 1 got away with in 5 games. Total: 2

This is not a comparison because they are similar. This is a comparison to highlight the difference in their quality. I could compare Ronaldo to Babel if you want? Will that make Ronaldo poor? Why do you post such blatant diversion attempts at times to deliberately avoid debate when you know you are wrong. By all means come and tell me about how Mignolet wasn't at fault on the 9 occasions i just pointed out, off the top of my head. Go on. I eagerly await your super alien analysis.

Spot on, MK. I will say that it was Migs who played vs Hoff, not Karius. Apart from that minuscule correction, you are dead on.

Harry again, your exaggeration is uncalled for. Karius did NOT make several mistakes as you and some on here and in the media keep rambling on about. The boy made TWO mistakes last season vs B'mouth and WH. That is IT. Enough with the exaggeration about his faults cos Migs is way ahead of him and Ward in that regard and by ten miles.

As for yesterday, had he taken two steps to his left he would have had that ball and yes, he should have done better BUT he is young and will learn. TAA and Gomez have made mistakes this season BUT many say they are young and need to learn from their mistakes. BUT when it comes to Karius, the same rules do not apply? Or when Migs (who has made FIVE mistakes in the last 2 games) makes a mistake many on here say, "Well, at leas he's a good shot stopper" or some other baseless excuse.

I wonder why that is? Could it be that many are implicitly biased and are incapable of bearing with a young player trying to fit in to a big club in a new league as unforgiving as the PL? He is better than Migs and has made less mistakes in his LFC career than Migs has made in the last two games.

Ederson conceded an even softer goal than Karius vs Everton. Do you hear any witch hunt or their fans asking for his Hart to come back? Exactly! Klopp needs too ignore the pathetic moans and stick with him for the forseeable future. End of story. As MK said, grow a backbone and support your player instead bowing to media witch hunts over a GK who conceded a soft goal as if that has never happened before.

Ron you too have missed the point mate. I'm not comparing him to Mignolet because Migs is the standard I've set to beat. I'm pointing out how much better than Mignolet he is because once again, fans and media are blaming Karius and asking why Mignolet, who apparently would've saved the shot, was dropped. I agree with you that Karius is low on confidence, but what i disagree on is how long it takes to get back.

Think back to Reina's first season at Liverpool. He fumbled a shot hit straight at him to Dean Ashton's feet in a cup final, but the next season he was the best keeper in the league bar maybe Cech. He gained confidence because he knew Rafa trusted and believed in him enough to give him time. The fans also didn't jump on Reina's back after one season, and we were rewarded for it.

Until we as supporters learn to stop setting the bar and expectations so high, and stop abusing people before they get a fair chance, our team will always look nervy. We feed the media by over reacting and they love it. They stir the pot and start a big argument amongst the fan base, which they can then call "disarray" or "turmoil". Why is it Liverpool fans who seem to be the most susceptible to this? Are we really that immature as a collective?

Cheers for the correction Bingo. I didn't watch either Hoffenheim game, just watched the highlights of the goals on my small phone screen. So in Mignolets defence then, that is two games where at least none of the goals were blatantly his fault!

A mistake is a mistake, but a technical flaw is something different.
This is the second time I've seen Karius beaten by a savable free kick because his positioning was poor. The other one was vs West Ham.

14.) 27 Sep 2017
27 Sep 2017 09:47:21
With that in mind Bingo, Karius has only actually let in 3 goals in 3 games, and Migs has let in 14 in 7.

Though i just read the match reports of the Hoffenheim games to see if he journo's had anything to say on Mignolet and he did save a penalty, that he didn't concede, to his credit.

Still we have a keeper averaging a goal a game conceded, and another averaging 2 a game conceded. I'm not a rocket scientist but?

I would say positioning at free kicks is something we need to point at the coaches for Ron. Not noticed it as a major issue myself. I think some free kicks just have to be admired. But if you are right and it is an issue, it isn't a technical flaw to me. It is an easily correctable coaching deficiency.

Lol! People are comparing on the number of goals let in by each individual. Terrible to even begin with! Both ain’t good enough hence they let in goals. One might be marginally better than the other. Does it even matter a slightest bit? It’s like comparing Klavan to Lovren! As a team it is not helping you one bit
What exactly are you proving here MK? That Karius is better than Migs. lol everyone agree to it! But the actual point is both are NOT GOOD ENOUGH at this level!

The bottom line is quite simple to read! We don’t have a good keeper. All we have is people better than the other! Now Klopp will pick Migs then Karius, then Migs, then Karius. Can’t you see this comedy?
