I know he takes his fair share of stick on here but it is saddening to read about the health issues Lovren is having.

He isn't training at all and has to take painkillers just to get on the pitch for us due to a back injury he has been carrying all season.

I feel a little bit guilty for calling out his performances knowing this now. The blokes in agony, not fit to play, but is playing through the pain barrier for us when required. He may not be the best player in the world, but respect to him for doing that in an age where most players would happily pull out with a cold and still pick up their pay check.

I hope he doesn't have to retire early like Agger did. Nobody deserves to have their livelihood robbed. Easy to forget these guys are still human and whilst it isn't anything to shout about, he is still our best senior centre back in my opinion.

Get well soon Dejan.

Cheers smplfc. We don't always agree, but we can easily forgot that guys like Lovren care just as much as us fans.

Forgot to add about Firmino as well; he apparently cried after he missed the penalty against Sevilla. Absolutely gutted for him. It's easy to shout and swear about him for missing, but we forget that he wanted it to go in even more than we did and he has to take responsibility to go with the heart break.

They're well paid for what they do, but some of them really do care.

He won't be robbed of his livelihood, he's probably made for life anyway, but he will be insured as will the club.
Why are we playing someone who's not fit to train? Utterly ridiculous from LFC again.
Shame for Lovren, hope he gets well soon 🤝.

I was thinking last time I watched him someone somewhere must have a lovren voodoo doll, he seemed to be fine most of the time but then has these mad moments where everything goes wrong, like a pin going into his doll when he needs to intercept a ball or clear one.

It is a shame about his back injury, and it makes me regret saying he isn’t fit enough to wear the shirt. He literally isn’t! yet still throws it on and tries which actually shows his passion for the club which was never recognisable in his game.
Whole new level of respect for him, still didn’t rate him even before his injury but he actually wants to play! And he is kinda making Coutinho look bad for his "back injury" which he couldn’t play through 😂

And MK I don’t ever remember seeing anybody shout and rage over Firmino for missing that penalty. The crowd instantly started chanting for him so his head didn’t drop. Maybe not just missing the penalty, but also the love and support the fans showed after is what made him cry? Either way at least we know he won’t be leaving any time soon haha.

The more I think about this story the more it winds me up.
If he's not fit to train, he on earth can he play? It baffles me because Klopp puts so much emphasis on training. I'd rather put a fully fit Gomez in there than an injured Lovren who's not training.
What are our medical team playing at? Surely they can't be recommending that :
1) a player self-medicates
2) a player plays when he's injured.

It just makes me even more mad about the way the club is being run. Have we got any professionals at our club?

Completely agree Phil. Very good point regarding Firmino as well. It's easy to confuse the real supporters with the online trolls, but as you say, the people in the stadium were fully behind him.
