Just brilliant eds
What’s great is the fact that there are players out there that CAN be brought in so no excuses
I’d like 2 to be honest.

Glad you enjoyed the read Longthing. I tend to agree with you. Can and Milner will likely both need replacing next summer, and if Henderson's injury hasn't cleared up fully, we'll start looking light in midfield not just literally, but in terms of personnel too!

Cheers for posting Ed001, had great fun writing this one. Even if it did bring home a few horrible truths! 😭.

{Ed001's Note - I am looking forward to reading it when I get a few minutes.}

So Ed01 what’s your opinion on MKs options.

A good article and nice read too.

Your welcome MK.

I love reading articles mate, always good to know something new which is why I love Ed001's articles, there's always something to learn in them, thing's id of never known. Your article was brilliant, can we expect more?

Have to admit Ed, the part about Ndidi was inspired by yourself. I never really rated him because I'd never watched him that closely. Upon doing a bit of research and watching him more closely over the last couple of weeks though, i discovered not only that he is still 20 years old, but that he is actually a very good player. He plays with so much heart and breaks up play very well for one so young.

Hope you enjoy it when you get a chance to read it. Would love to hear your opinions on this subject.

{Ed001's Note - oh ok, I am honoured that it made you have a look at him. I like him, but inconsistent still, but there is so much quality there he could be a special player.

I will defo read it later when the missus is watching her tagalog soaps. I have no idea what is going on in any of them other than someone always loses their memory. They seem to take it in turns. So I need something to read or I end up in trouble for sniggering all the way through!}

Great stuff MK. I'm in the midfield powerhouse category. Pace and power aligned to ability on the ball seems to be what's required in modern day football. With West Hams struggles this season would Obiang be achievable in January?

Great Article MK, personally myself I would go for Dendocker fantastic player fits the Model as being relatively young, and when I have seen him play he was the main reason Tielsmans was able to do a lot of the special stuff he was behind doing the leg work, theirs a few that come in and would make a real difference Lucas Tousart looks really good but would be extremely expensive another one from the premier league that would be great for us would be Abdoulaye Doucoure from watford strong as a Ox but personally theirs two I would go for who looks like they could be good and that would be Jean-Phillipe Gbamin form Mainz and Cheick Doukouré's from Levante likes a tackle but all of these are not Marquee that the fan base want.

Glad you enjoyed it Mcgoveb.

Cheers again Corleone. I did used to write quite regularly for the site about 3 years ago. Probably on a monthly basis, but I've had a mad few years. Couple of job changes, becoming a father, leaving my parents house, getting engaged etc. So I've not had a massive amount of free time. I'm finally more settled now though. Although this article only took a couple of hours to write, you spend hours fine tuning them and at least 2 days reading up on players and finding footage of them before you can even start writing. The hardest part for me though is not using words like "we", "our" or "us" when talking about Liverpool 😂 i shall try and do them more often when something inspires me though as feedback so far seems positive. I'm not as creative as Ed001 though. He is exceptional at finding interesting discussion points. To write such interesting articles so frequently is quite a skill in it's own right.

{Ed001's Note - they will be thinking I am paying you to say nice stuff if you keep this up! Which reminds me, cheque is in the post but shhhhh....}

Cheers Gordy. I think if we put down enough money, Obiang would jump at the chance to join us. That is guesswork though. He is a very good player.

Thanks Kloppers. Some crackers in your list. I like Dendoncker too, and Doucoure is also great. Only reason i didn't mention him was because I think he may end up playing a bit further forward in the near future. His attacking prowess has surprised me. Tousart is also great. I think I'm right in saying he is still only 21? He was considered by myself too, but i decided that buying from Lyon wouldn't count as realistic 😂 the same reason is why i left out Diawara of Napoli, actually. Some teams are just hard to do business with!

{Ed001's Note - Obiang could well have joined in the summer if he had not been injured. There was interest from both sides.}

13.) 26 Oct 2017
26 Oct 2017 11:32:41
Np MK, yeah I believe Tousart might be 20. agreed Doucoure has surprised me at how great he is with his feet for his size. oh god Diawara would be an amazing signing but as you said I think theirs a line of clubs that would love him, Ed01 do you think potentially Obiang could be a realistic signing in January would fit in nicely as a DM for us I think.

{Ed001's Note - very realistic.}

It better not just be an envelope full of UAE sand like last time Ed! It's only funny the first 7 times.

I haven't received envelopes with such useless contents since some guy called Brendan sent me three envelopes with a single name enclosed in each; Simon M, Jose E and Glen J. No idea what that was all about.

{Ed001's Note - it is like a catchphrase mate, it will grow on you.}

You both have a knack for it, was only saying the other week how it's difficult to come by good articles these days due to the amount of sites putting up absolute nonsense, they'll make the title interesting you click it and either get a sentence or 2 from which they've copied and pasted from the bbc website or bugger all lol so I tend to leave it alone, I don't like to be click baited.

At least here the articles put up and informative. I wish I could do them like you fellas but my English isn't great when writing lol I know what I know up there but putting what I know down writing it is another matter, you fellas make it look easy haha! Well done! look forward to whoever's is next :)

That's interesting to hear Ed001. I knew of interest, but i didn't know it was as serious as that would suggest. Be nice if we went back in for him in January or next summer. He'd be perfect to replace Can in my opinion.

Plus, i know a fair few Hammers and they'd hate it if he signed for Liverpool 😂.

{Ed001's Note - he was keen to leave, still is. There are a few players playing for a move away.}

26 Oct 2017 11:45:17

26 Oct 2017 11:52:53
I agree on clickbait Corleone 😂 it is so annoying when you click on "Liverpool pull off amazing deal to sign teenage wonderkid" and then you open it to see that it's just Woodburn has extended his contract and the article is a mash up of the clubs official statement and Ben's Wikipedia page 😂 at least on here, the article title is in no way misleading. You get exactly what it says on the tin, and it's all original content! If English isn't your first language mate, you had me fooled. Most of my mates couldn't write as coherently as you do!

We have grujic that lad has pure quality, he 6ft 5 for a start could help wid set peices at both ends he can pass tackle I would rather see him there now than emre Can an plus he the future can isn't, I like kouyate from West ham think he does a good job.

really enjoyed the article MK. good read mate. like you i didn't necessarily feel the need for a defensive midfielder in the summer but have since been swayed by our performances. i don't watch much foreign footy so haven't seen a lot of those mentioned will keep a closer eye on Obiang now ed says he is a realistic option for January.

Cheers Toe knee. I am glad to hear that you didn't agree with everything actually. It is good to know that my opinions aren't just "safe". If everyone agreed with every single point I'd be worried it was too on the fence. I tried to write it so as to present my opinions to you all, but without trying to brainwash everyone into agreeing. I've always believed that the best way to write is to leave the debate open for discussion, rather than preach your own agenda so convincingly people feel they can't dispute it.

23.) 26 Oct 2017
26 Oct 2017 12:06:10
Hailstones if you actually watch Grujic he is to rash in his tackles picks up silly bookings and let's the game go past him a lot. and doesn track back as much and press hard, he was a silly signing at the time tbh, he has talent but I think the move was to early for him.

Just read the article MKS - really enjoyed it though I did disagree entirely on Fabinho, he is a right back really and, when in the middle, suffers the same problems as our current midfield. He has absolutely no defensive mindset and does the Matip-stroll back after his frequent charges forward. Plus he is completely unrealistic which is why he is still there.

27.) 26 Oct 2017
26 Oct 2017 14:42:53
Apologies I forgot to say who I would have suggested instead, which is Doucoure of Watford. They will sell anyone for the right price.

28.) 26 Oct 2017
26 Oct 2017 15:11:23
Nothing yet smplfc. Thanks though mate.

Cheers Ed001. Appreciate the honesty. I don't really like Fabinho as a right back myself. I think it wasted his best qualities. I will keep an eye on his tracking back though. In games I've seen he's looked very committed to getting back, but it's easy to miss that sort of thing because it is usually off the ball.

I do agree with Doucoure though. Another poster mentioned him and i seriously considered including him when i wrote it. I can see him doing a Yaya Toure though and ending up playing higher up because his exploits in and around the box are wasted when he has too much defensive responsibility. What a player he looks though. My predicting him eventually moving forward is all it was that made me leave him out.

Appreciate you reading and taking the time to reply though. Now stop ignoring the Mrs, get back under her thumb, and watch Hollyoaks 😂.

{Ed001's Note - she is busy watching Pusong Ligaw mate, no Hollyoaks here thankfully! We have to go out now as she cleverly broke her phone screen today, so need to go get that fixed in Naif where everything is cheap, cheap, cheap, but I have to go with her as it is not a place for a woman on her own.}

26 Oct 2017 15:13:44
i must admit i didn't think doucoure was a particularly defensive mided player. i have seen very little of watford though. will keep an eye on him as well as Obian. really hope the club are looking for players we could get in January.

I still think drop coutinho into mid and ask can and gini to just sit back and half the problems are solved.
The other half is solved by dropping lovren and migs.
Having so many attackers still playing coutinho upfront and three man useless midfield is beyond me now.
He can use coutinho in midfield and just order can and gini to sit back.
But he is doing it.
Klopp has to be blamed at sheer failure to understand his team and failing to sign decent players.
I wholly disagree with the article.
We have players with steel in can and gini who can do the job of protecting the defense.
However a three of hendo can gini/ Milner doesn't work because no one is creative enough and everybody is trying to go for glory and drive forward even though it's clear they don't have enough quality for that.
But if you put coutinho there he becomes your guy to ping everything forward and can and gini can just relax and defend. Then you have curious case of grujic who klopp is reluctant to try. A 6'4 boy wonder who wins headers for fun both sides of the pitch and is a tough tackler.
But Mr klopp is worried and is not looking to let it go and try players.
No we don't need midfield players we need to trust academy players like wood burner Wilson for attack role. And drop coutinho in midfield and all these problems will suddenly disappear.
Actually that was the plan at the beginning g of the season but then plans changed because we got 10 man thrashed by city.
A 10 old can see that.
Klopp is just being a scaredly cat. That's is the problem. He has been gifting mistakes by giving more chances to migs lovren moreno hendo Milner.

I live hendo but he is post injury simply not good enough to give his soul to the club every 90 mins just like studger. Such players don't need to be given chances.

For Gods sake I hope he gives youth a chance before splurging next year.

Solutions lie within the club. When the old isn't working you have to try the new.
When the hugs aren't working you have to bring out the suplexes.

Maybe when Ed025 retires i can have his job, Longthing? After all, he is 167 years old in December.

I couldn't honestly do what these guys do for a sustained period. I was a moderator on a social media page with 15,000 followers the other year and it killed me. Constantly deleting arguments and abuse, tirelessly trying to keep things fresh and interesting so people keep coming back etc. It is seriously a full time job if you want it to be a success, and these guys do it for little to no pay everyday, on a site that probably gets closer to millions of visitors over the course of the year. We take them for granted. Actual Inside information, brilliant forums, hilarious but informative podcasts, and the best write ups on the net. And they don't even ask for a subscription charge or drown us in adverts. Take that Duncan.

So after two years, 4 windows and infinite speculations throwing random names to play here and there the page now relaises the team needs a specialist midfielder! I can’t count the amount of stick I took for claiming the same from years! So liverpool need a holding midfielder! Good!

35.) 26 Oct 2017
26 Oct 2017 19:30:51
Nice one MK, agree fully. One point of order tho, wasn't it milner busting gut for son's goal? He just got gassed badly. And oh my, I think everything is going to fall to pieces after an elementary mistake aye!

36.) 26 Oct 2017
26 Oct 2017 19:41:35
I think everyone wanted to believe Klopp had a master plan Harry. He decided we didn't need one and everyone as prepared to back his decision until he was proven wrong. I think at least against the stronger teams we are missing not having one. It is always mentioned how big of a gap there is in between Matip and Lovren, but that is what centre backs are coached to do nowadays; split so that the full backs can get forward. The problem is that when that happens, you're deepest midfielder should sit in and shield that gap. When our press fails, and it does quite frequently, that gap that we've left empty can be exposed quite brutally. It's easy to forget that Lovren missed that header where in years can by, your left back would be challenging for it. With how Moreno is asked to play though, Lovren has to make that challenge instead. But where was the defensive midfielder to fill in in case he missed it or got beaten in the air? Nowhere.

I'll give any Liverpool manager a chance to try their own weird ideas, but when it goes wrong and shows no signs of correction, then we need to make a change.

{Ed001's Note - to be honest, the defensive midfielder should have been the one making the challenge rather than the centre back.}

What a great read MK.
I would have gone for Camacho if I had to choose one. But hey, that's bot what its about.

Again, thanks.

One for another day perhaps but we need a whole new spine of the team not just a DM.

39.) 27 Oct 2017
27 Oct 2017 02:53:55
Great article MK. I've been saying for a long time as well that we lack a solid CDM on the pitch. Any successful team has a solid ball winner in midfield and we've been trying to make Can into one, Henderson into one, etc.
Robinho would be a dream come true, but as you stated, likely very unrealistic, but you never know.
N'Zonzi, Obiang, the type of midfielder that solidifies not only the middle of the park but your back line as well.
A "Mash-your-ankle" kind of lad is the first on the team sheet for me. With a Mascherano in mid (in his prime) breathing down the neck of Kane as he is looking up for a header. he would have crapped his pants.
That "steel" you mentioned is exactly what we lack and miss and need. It is like a safe feeling knowing that player is there to make sure things are ok. and allows the players pushing forward to not have to worry so much that if things don't go as planned, that the ball is likely going to end up in the back of the net.
Cheers MK!

Thanks again everyone, and i i think Milner made the most effort faithinworks but he still made his move too late whilst he ball watched and never really looked fully committed to getting back goal side.

Fair point Ed001. If our entire midfield hadn't been caught under the ball, perhaps they could've made the challenge and allowed Lovren the chance to stay in position. That goal summed us up defensively for me. Individual error, laziness from Matip, inexperience from Gomez, weak keeping from Mignolet, and a midfield not even in the game defensively.

{Ed001's Note - it says a lot about the team that our most effective defender is Firmino!}
