Hey Ed’s! But random but is there a specific way by which. A channel decides its pundits? I cannot see how ANYBODY can hire Phil Neville, he doesn’t know his mule from his elbow, he’s boring as sin and even as a player he was pretty darn poor, Owen is of a similar ilk but atleast he had talent on the pitch. Is it a case of who’s avaialable or do the big wigs genuinely think supporters tune in to hear what these plebs have to say?

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea. It really makes no sense.}

i think what's worse is having them commentate on the games, most of these guys can barely articulate themselves properly and we're reduced to hearing the likes of gary neville and stan collymore screaming inaudibly at the top of their voices as if they're being dramatic or concise. don't get me started on joey barton.

i agree its a disgrace, i actually haven't any time for any of the pundits in football today I started using bein because they use the darts guy as commentator and he's funny and talks about every player by their first name like they are besties. But the pundits on sky and bt are useless to listen to, look at the show the debate, which by its name you think they would have ex players managers from opposing teams having a debate yet they used giggs and p. neville to debate both derbies this weekend absolute joke.

Half the matches I watch now have got Arabic or Italian commentators (thanks internet streaming) those I watch on tv usually have the sound turned down, commentary is so dull and pointless these days, they either just go “Henderson, passes it to Moreno, back to Henderson, Moreno, Henderson, to mignolet, Henderson, back to Moreno, to henderson, to Lovren, back to Henderson, to mignolet, kicks it long, throw in to the opposition” or they ask for the view of whatever “expert” is sat next to them who sounds (and I assume looks like) a deer in the headlights or if he’s just been asked to recite the periodic table backwards, we then hear this “expert” mumble about some nonesense about a high press or not closing the ball down quick enough, usually completely wrong and more than likely read off a sheet of pre-prepared answers from the studio.

Agree with livered mcmanaman is ok as a commentator pains me to say it but think the best pundit/ commentator is gary neville. Not biast tells it as it is. Cannot stand when you get owen (i want to kill myself) hargreaves and glenn monotone hoddle commentating on a game.

Pat Nevin, whiney sycophant to Chelsea and Man U. Glenn Hoddle, great player but a pundit devoid of insight relies on stting bleeding obvious.

The fact that a near nobody like Gareth Crooks (a bang average footballer in his time) has a pundit job at the BBC, tells you all you need to know about the quality of pundits we have in the English game. There's a reason Klopp always says that he could not give two flips of a coin about what a pundit says about him or LFC or his tactics. They are bang awful.

I enjoy listening to home games on LFC radio commentary. John Aldo gets so excited and the commentary always makes the game sound better than it actually is!
