Happy with the 2-1 win with VVD scoring a memorable debut goal. Looking back at the Firmino incident, pretty much everything has been said already.

However, I'm a little surprised Firmino was having a go at Holgate in Portuguese. He's been here for 2.5 years and you'd expect him to use English. Haha. Was he expecting Holgate to understand his Portuguese insults?

To be fair to Firmino, it was in the heat of the moment so he probably just went with what he's comfortable with. In any case, calling someone a son of a bitch is pretty tame compared to the abuse hurled by fans to the players. I think the FA's investigation will come out to nothing more than a warning.

Onwards to Man City!

I don’t think that Firmino should get a warning, since it implies that he’s guilty of the charge of racially abusing another player. If anything, Holgate should be up on a violent conduct charge.

{Ed025's Note - not attempted murder then?..

If you're heated you use your native language without thinking surely?

Should have been a double yellow. Firmino is my dude but shouldn't have reacted so strongly. Holgate was a bit lucky not to get red considering the penalty.

ed025, he shoved a player into the crowd. It doesn't matter if Firmino was hurt or not (which he wasn't), the thing that matters was the intent.

Definitly at least a yellow in my eyes at least, and I could see it be given as a red on other days.

Remember players getting carded for a high boot even if no harm was done? Its sometimes down to the increased potential of causing injury and I would argue that shoving someone into the crowd when they don't have the ball (and the ball is dead) is exactly that.

Red Sandman.

{Ed025's Note - the game is going a bit soft imo sandman, yes it was a bit silly and possibly reckless but at least it gave the game a bit of an edge which was sadly lacking before that, im not condoning what mason did by the way mate..

Is this real life? Like seriously.
He's been in England 2.5 years he should be speaking English.
And that's why we are in this situation. English people are so ignorant that because they can't understand something it's automatically something racial has been said because I don't understand it.

Holgate threw him into the stands and when we realised what he's just done. He thought he said something.
My partners fluent in Spanish and She knew what he said. This is crazy.

Every player uses profanity on the field. But because half of a country couldn't use their brains it's racial?
This is a joke.

Gallows for Holgate Ed025 ;)

{Ed025's Note - absolutely mate.. :)

I feel like it's only in the UK we complain about the game going soft, it's like we have to compensate for the lack of technical ability by going physical, yeah a push and shove here ain't all that to get riled about, but when we want to see higher acts of physicality lauded and praised, I think it just shows the difference between England and the other top European countries. Of course Wales are amazing we got to the semis and we decided to go on holiday to a nicer place than Russia in 2018 ;)

I thought the ref handled it well. It's the derby and there's bite. Don't condone it either but these things happen.

I’m sorry Ed25 but if he had gone head first into a camera or a hard surface and cracked his skull open you wouldn’t be making those jokes. That moron Holgate endangered another player and the crowd. If you want to say it’s a contact sport and ignore fact then fair enough. I love your banter but you can’t sweep that under the carpet. It’s kinda like going 2 foot from behind which In some cases may break a players leg but luckily it didn’t happen. I guess you’re used to watching your thugs take out the opposition cos of their lack of talent and have become de-sensitised to it.

{Ed025's Note - is his skulll broken swish...i never heard that...look if someone got injured then you have a case, they never so your case holds no water, i hate all these iff,s and butts...

If calling someone "son of a bitch " is racist, then 90% of American's would be guilty of it. It is a phrase often used over there, with no insult intended.

lol it's usually the Ed talking about tinted specs but he's definitely got his on over this. The fact that he didn't get injured means nothing and I'm sure they will look at the lack of action taken by the ref during the enquiry into the incident.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think i have den, did mason deserve a yellow card..probably, did bobby racially abuse him..no not for me...are liverpool fans overreacting..YES, thats not tinted glasses thats the truth..

Ed does blood need to be drawn to make it valid? Clear intent to injure another player and it could have resulted in far worse. When cantona lashed out was that moron hurt? No but cantona got a huge ban for his intent. On the flip side mane made a challenge against a keeper with zero intent and gets a red card-. You tell me which is worse, the one who deliberately went to injure another player or the one that did it by accident in the spirit of the game. As per usual in evertons plan they couldn’t even ge that right :p.

{Ed025's Note - your saying holgate deliberately tried to injure bobby???, how the hell do you know that!, yes he shoved him swish but to say he done it with the intention of causing him harm is ludicrous and you are talking through your arse, its nothing like the cantona saga where he DELIBERATELY..yes DELIBERATELY tried to cause actual harm to the supporter, i hope you are not looking to forge a living as a lawyer mate as your just not cut out for it..

Players get booked these days for going to the crowd to celebrate a goal. So I’m surprised Bobby wasn’t red carded for actually going into the crowd, considering how letter-of-the-law referees are.

People don't push people over for no reason mate, ok did Holgate want to put Firmino in hospital? Probably not, but he pushed him over the billboard stand thing and we've seen some brutal injuries coming from players collision with that billboard stand thing.

Ed, it’s clear he deliberately pushed bobby, while he was off balance, off the pitch. What didn he think would happen? A foam wall would magically inflate to cushion the fall? There was nothing accidental about that push-At the very least it’s an off the ball reckless challenge which is a red card.

{Ed025's Note - he actually shoved him to stop him retrieving the ball and taking a quick throw in swish, he was not to know that with him having poor balance that he would topple over the small fence, (that last bit was tongue in cheek) he had no intention of hurting the guy and for you think otherwise would be very silly or worse vitriolic, look it was not that big a deal and bobby squaring up to him was not either, some people just look for things to moan about because they have little dicks..
