Not exactly a liverpool related subject but im sure it can be, with regards to sell on clauses. If a player has a sell on clause but was to run down his contract then move for free to a new club, then later get sold by that club. Would the club he ran his contract down with get part of the fee or not? Im guessing it would be tied into a contract so no, but im not sure.

If they've run down their contract. It's expired and the terms and clauses will no longer be valid.
