Ronaldo Vieira? We should sign him for the name alone. if he’s truly the love child of Ronaldo (the Brazilian one) and Patrick Vieira, what a player!

{Ed001's Note - he is a very good player, sort of in the Patrick V mould, in that he is a powerful driving mid, but his passing is truly abysmal at times.}

You won't believe this Ed001, but the English radio stations this morning are blaming Wigan. Here are a few of the highlights from my memory:

"The Wigan players shouldn't surround the ref. They've changed his mind"

"The ref should've stuck to his decision and given a yellow. A yellow was CORRECT"

"Cook influenced the 4th official and his assistant Reid has had to pull him away from Pep"

"Wigan fans shouldn't have invaded the pitch. Aguero did what anyone would have done because he had no protection"

"The Wigan fan AGUERO PUNCHED should be banned for life"

"The City fans only destroyed the stadium because they were being taunted by the Wigan fans, and Wigan hadn't paid for enough Stewards or Police"

"Wigan should accept full responsibility. They should've known they'd need more crowd control for a bigger crowd"

Basically, it's all Wigan's fault according to the English media. The love-in for Pep and Citeh has gone too deep and they've all dug themselves into a hole of hype that they don't want to climb back out of sheepishly. It's got a bit much over here to be honest. They're already being called the greatest side in English football history, despite winning nothing under Pep yet. I hope Arsenal pummel them this weekend and we get the chance to send them crashing out of the Champions League.

{Ed001's Note - it is sad mate, City were a disgrace last night with their actions. Pep is a hypocrite.}

Straight away after the game Shearer started defending Aguero. It really doesn't matter what the fan said. Aguero punched him for crying out loud. We all wish we could hit people when they wind us up, but you have to be mature and professional, especially when you know there will be a camera on you! If he couldn't handle the fans, he could easily have gone down the tunnel. He had to be dragged away by someone in a Man City tracksuit in the end because he was about to start a fight.

{Ed001's Note - Shearer is a knob who used violence as a way of getting an advantage on the pitch, so why would anyone listen to him on this? This is a guy who thought stamping on a fellow professional was acceptable after all.}

And yet here we are the next day discussing what they said. Looks like the media did what they wanted to do.

I never noticed a love in with the media and Pep lad's maybe it's because I don't get a chance to look at the back page's like I used to. How bad is it?

It was a leg breaker tackle if I ever saw one, city, delph and pep can have no complaints whatsoever.

As for not having enough stewards to control the Citeh “fans”? Can’t be that hard to control 25 people, the stewards should have done better as they outnumbered the Citeh “fans” at least 3-1. 😆.

What an absolute shambles, City did themselves no favours last night. Aguero, a so called professional and reacted like that? surely he'll get some sort of punishment? what an absolute disgrace. Cheers for the update Ed.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

9.) 20 Feb 2018

That was 100% a leg breaker waiting to happen, direct lunge right at his leg, studs up.

Given the ref pulled out a yellow first, Pep has a right to complain his end decision was impacted by Wigan’s behaviour, but he should have no complaints on the end decision given his recent comments.

It's really bad Barry.

"Greatest team in the land"
"Better than the Invincibles"
"Best team in Europe"
"Best football that's ever been played in England"

Even after we beat them all the media could say was "if the game had been 10 minutes longer City would've won". We'll yes, they might have. However if the game had been 10 minutes shorter we'd have won 4-1. Football is a 90 minute game so it was a redundant point by a media agenda scratching desperately to protect a team they had been glorifying in the build up.

It is just so over the top for a team that has won nothing yet under Pep, and been shown up at times by Everton, Crystal Palace, Liverpool, Shaktar, Bristol City and now Wigan Athletic this season. Whatever Pep says, the media back him though. If City's frailties are exposed, they make excuses. Kyle Walker and John Stones are two of the worst defenders i have ever seen signed for top dollar and according to the media they are the only players other than Kane Guaranteed to start at the World Cup. I wouldn't take Stones for our u23's side! Grigg got two opportunities to run at him yesterday, and destroyed him both times with one hitting the side betting and the other going in. GRIGG!

I agree Mikey. The tackle was shocking. I said immediately that he had to go even before seeing the slow motion. He has missed the ball and caught the man with a jumping straight leg, studs up lunge. If Power's foot had been planted he'd have been going home in an ambulance. Pep asked for more severe punishment for nasty tackles and he got it.

City are great to watch in possession, but they are very dirty out of it. Pep reminds me a lot of Alex Ferguson unfortunately. He seems to be able to get his team to perform very consistently across 60 games, but what really reminds me of Fergie is his constant pressuring on the officials and the media. His mind games and his control over everything around him make his teams far more successful than they deserve to be. Wigan players were getting booked for shoulder the shoulder challenges and fair attempts at tackles because the City players were throwing themselves down and screaming in agony. Danilo and Bernardo were on the cusp of an Oscar nomination by the 90th minute. I'm very quickly growing to dislike City. They've thrown all their toys out the pram and totally disrespected the magic of the FA cup.

{Ed001's Note - you forgot about Wolves, who City needed pens to beat in the Carabao Cup.}

Lol too true, they are bloody terrible!

12.) 20 Feb 2018
20 Feb 2018 09:48:31
Well remembered Ed! Basically any team that has got at them and not just surrendered at kick off, has given them a good run for their money. Yes, they are the best team in the Premier League right now, but it's just all gone a bit far for me with the praise and plaudits. As soon as they've crashed back down to earth in a game that really mattered to them, the wheels have come off and they've shown their true colours.

13.) 20 Feb 2018
20 Feb 2018 09:59:28
It seems to get brushed under the carpet, Salah. Walker and Stones are very fortunate that their team mates dominate possession and that they have a great sweeper keeper, because running off the back of them is far too easy. Firmino absolutely ruined Stones in our 4-3 win, Vardy gave him the run around so badly that he strained his hamstring, and Grigg made him look League 1 standard with absolutely no service. Teams really should have a look at City and target the right hand side of their defence. It is there for the taking every week.

Mourinho may not be a saint but he definitely isn't as big a Dcik as Saint Pep, if Jose had done that y'day it would be plastered across every single newspaper this morning, bet the media darling will get away with it cos he never kicked a water bottle🤬.

15.) 20 Feb 2018
20 Feb 2018 11:06:02
Good point MK mate I totally agree with you, Firmino came to my mind as well. Teams seem to be too afraid of their attack instead of thinking about their weaknesses, if their weaknesses are exploited (the defence) there's noway they'd be this far ahead in the league. They aren't unbeatable, far from it especially with defenders like that. This season has somewhat frustrated me because people are kind of allowing them to win if that makes sense, sure they have a great attack we all know this but they're so easy to score against lol it's a shame to many teams sit back and don't try harder against them.

I never expected us to beat them to be honest, we went at them like a bull, and we won, wigan never gave up last night and they won, they had nothing really to lose I mean what Wigan fan would've guessed they'd beat Man City, so they went for it and won! I just wish more teams would concentrate on Citys weaknesses a little more, it'd be a different story if they did, that top spot would be open for the taking.

To me the game needs to stamp out the surrounding the ref thing. FIFA or whoever came out a while ago with some kind of new stance to ensure plauers respect referees but it never lasts and for me a big part of it is they don't enforce a realistic sanction. I rekon just yellow card every player who surrounds the ref who ain't the captain. Make it rain yellow cards and then start deducting points. Same as for things like player or fans using racist or derogatory forms of abuse. Hit em on pitch and thenn start deducting points from the club.

18.) 20 Feb 2018
20 Feb 2018 11:39:01
I completely agree Salah. They are probably good enough to win it anyway, but the gap is only that big because, as you say, teams are letting them win by turning up with damage limitation in mind rather than how to beat them. That is probably why a few teams have had them on the ropes in the cup. Damage limitation is pointless in a cup game so they've had to try and get the win. You may as well lose 8-1 and try to win than roll over and accept a 1-0 loss.

Missed the game last night, as the wife hogged the telly.

Was City's behaviour bad enough to deduct some league points, maybe about 25 or so? :)

Agree Faith - compare the way rugby treats its refs compared to football and it’s atrocious how they get surrounded and pressured. A few yellows would do trick and enforce respectful behaviour quickly.

I agree we need to stop players from surrounding the refs to try and influence their decision. But that is no worse than the City players feigning injury to get every Wigan player who made a tackle booked. That is also influencing the ref with your reaction. So the City camp can have no complaints until they stop trying to con the referee themselves. The difference is that the red card for Delph was actually the right decision, and we don't even know if the Wigan players did actually change his mind. He might have got radio communication from the lino or the 4th official who both had a better angle of the tackle. Some are suggesting he only got the yellow out to write something down. We need more details really to make a judgement.

The simulation, play acting and coercing really dies need to stop though. Refs have a very hard job, and players are deliberately making it harder. Maybe a few trigger happy yellow card sprees would help going forward? The rule this season was meant to be that any player who runs over to the ref gets booked. The refs have been given the right to protect themselves but to be honest, they've all bottled it.

Watched game last night and agree with posters city got away with murder at half time and full time
It was a red card challenge both feet off the ground over the ball but the ref blundered getting yellow out then the red he is a rubish ref but the fact should put a stop to this surrounding of the ref by players and start punishing them both clubs should be charged and all the players involved disciplined
In fergies day it was his policy to pressure the ref and the they went to far. As for pep his behaviour was deploring at half time in the tunnel all the city coaches went after cook led by pep and I hope the family look at the footage otherwise we might as well stick a boxing rink on the touchline instead of technical areas.

Walker and stones are not terrible players. They have helped city to an 18 point lead. Stones is still very young but playing in the heart of one of europes best defences. He will get better.

Kyle walker, Imo is a classy rb, he is so quick going forward and I suspect the same people knocking him will be cheering him on as he storms down that wing in the world Cup. He was one of our best players in the euros. I suspect we will all be glad to have him when we beat Belgium 2 0.

I know walker gets stick about his defending but in the modern game fbs are more like wingers, I would be chuffed if we signed him although I prefer taa.

I think we should get behind our English players, they seem to get more stick than the foreign players.

Question, would you rather liverpool win the league or England win the World Cup?

I will tell you my answer when people post replies.

Everything Samuel Eto'o said about Pep is correct based on his deplorable conduct last night. The guy is a snake in angel's clothing. The media have been in love with Pep since he arrived and say or do nothing to question him even last season when he was getting his clock cleaned by Everton, LC, Chelsea and the lot. Now that his team will win the PL, they think they can do what they like and frankly they can cos the media hacks and syncophants just enable judging by the pathetic excuses they made for his and his team's conduct all game.

MK is right on the money. Walker and Stones are completely useless BUT you would not know it as the media are too busy slaughtering our own defenders whereas conveniently ignoring the right calamity both players are. Mane ripped Walker a good one vs City and so did Bobbie vs Stones BUT all you heard was how City should have drawn, forgetting the right pummeling they received from us that evening. City can go on and win the PL BUT eventually, they will always be a plastic club with a true hypocrite and snake as a manager who can take it BUT can't dish it out.
