Hi Ed's. I'm a big fan of Harry Wilson. He scored again tonight for hull. Surely he will get a chance next season? Do you think he will get a chance. Maybe move him ahead of ings?

{Ed001's Note - Lallana is the one most in danger mate.}

I assume ed that it is because of he's injury proneness and not that there would be no space for him in the fully fit first 11.

{Ed001's Note - you would assume wrongly then. It is because of both.}

Lallana's time is up and its kinda obvious Klopp feels that way. His fitness is way off the mark and he just does not contribute enough in terms of goals scored and created to be automatic first pick. And he is on more than 100k a week, a lot of money which could be used elsewhere to bump up the wages of our front 3. OX is obviously the long term Lallana replacement.

Ed1, I was convinced that Lallana was a starter in midfield before his injury. What's changed? I would have thought a fit Lallana still plays ahead of Milner, Wiji and Can.

{Ed001's Note - well partially because he has a bit of a billy big time attitude, partially because he can't stay fit (nor is he likely to ever be able to stay fit in the future - he has to be managed, hence why he never played 90mins for Saints) and partially because he just is a bit Moreno-like. You give him instructions and he carries them out one week then forgets about them the next. Unreliable is the word I was trying to think of. Also he annoys a lot of people with his constant media talk, always looking to talk about what he is going to do, rather than concentrating on just doing it.}

I have to say, I liked him when he first came in as he really defined how Klopp wanted his midfield to play. I still think he can play a role as he has diff skills to Ox, but his media speak has always annoyed me.

Interesting, thanks Ed1.

{Ed001's Note - welcome PR. Oh and the other thing is that he is not keen to stay unless he is defo first choice.}

Once Keita signs, Lallana doesn't get into our best midfield. No point having a player to cover injury or loss of form, who is never fit himself!

I think he'll end up at Bournemouth, Southampton or Spurs. This has been a long time coming. Woodburn has looked better for a while but needed to be carefully managed after Coleman stupidly made him the star of the Welsh national side at 17 years old. Wilson, Ojo, Ejaria, Grujic and Kent are all knocking on the door with varying levels of success on loan in the Championship. Arnold will move to midfield soon. Herbie Kane, Rafa Camacho, Yan Dhanda and Curtis Jones are all impressing hugely in the u23's and u19's.

We have so much young talent pushing for game time next season and if we're honest, players like Milner and Lallana who are noticeably in decline, are just blocking the path for a couple of those I've just listed to step up.

Plus he has previously already stated he has no intentions of retiring at Liverpool. This to me shows lack of commitment, I think he'll be gone in the summer.

Good Morning Gents
Hope everyone is well
Thank you for the update Ed001 and also if I may ask, when he does leave where potentially could you see him going?
I have to be honest and say I think he slows down our play badly and his love of the cruyff turn is beyond a joke sometimes.
dont get me wrong, he is a good player but for where we are headed not the right guy to be a bit part player for us especially on those wages.

{Ed001's Note - I really have no idea where he would go, probably back down south somewhere.}

MK, how did Coleman make woodburn the star of the national side? That is quite clearly Bale, followed by Ramsey. Correct me if I'm wrong but woodburns only goal for them came off the bench, that's hardly the role of their star player! Yes, he may have made it to their first team national side, and given a lot of attention due to this, but he hasn't been made the star of the side.

MK - It is still wise to keep the experience of some of the senior players (Mainly Milner as he has won things) to protect the young lads when the chips are down or when to slow the play down when needed. You are right we should be fading them out slowly. I reckon if we win the Champions League (highly unlikely) or really go for the league cup next season (as it is the first cup to win) it will help us no end mentally. We will have the thirst to win. I also think if the U19's do well and win the Champions League it sets a winning mentality within Liverpool as a whole. A lot of ifs and buts I know.

TIA that wasn't my point at all mate! Coleman heaped pressure and expectation on Woodburn by rushing him into the Wales first team, so that he wouldn't end up playing for England. He did the same thing with Harry Wilson at 16 and that went to his head and he stopped training hard enough. Therefore, Klopp has had to manage Woodburns ego. I only used the word "star" because a lot of the major media outlets used that term at the time. Klopp has managed the situation very well, to his credit.

That is a fair point RedChair, but experience is only valuable if it brings with it composure, game management and leadership. In Lallana and Milner we have two headless chickens. You can add Mignolet to the list as well who is 31 next season and creates more uncertainty than any other player at a top 6 club.

Next season Henderson will be 28, Karius 25, Lovren 29, Matip 27, Van Dijk 27, Gini 27, Ox 25, Klavan 33, Salah 26, Mane 26, Firmino 27, Ings 25, Sturridge 29 etc. I don't think our team is lacking in experience. What it lacks is quality/ game management in midfield, arguably a top class keeper, and definitely a natural right back. Aside from Henderson, all of our midfielders follow the tempo, instead of trying to control it and that is the main change that needs to happen.

Let’s hope he gets a run in next season! Lallana is good as gone! I have said this long ago! The team has upped their level while some players just remain where they are. Lallana, Milner, Wijnaldum! All gone!

13.) 14 Mar 2018

Ha ha ha! This won't go well with Lallana fans over here especially MK and Supersalah!

14.) 14 Mar 2018

MK do you think it would be wise for Klopp to buy an experienced midfielder (or two) who does not run around like a headless chicken, who knows how to pass and who knows they are coming to the end of their career so doesn't mind being a squad player? I know he bought Klavan and Matip to help with the defense in that way. When Klavan is fit he has been excellent for the team. My worry is that I can see a massive gap next year if most of the experienced players will leave. I fear it may leave a gap. It has happened to us so many times in the past. Do you think this is why one of the reasons for players like Suarez and Coutinho wanted to go Barcelona. As in it is not just winning but to be able to learn from the best and gain experience from them too?

For once I agree Harry. Right now, I'd argue that a fit and in form Lallana starts. I'd say our best midfield three is still Lallana, Hendo and Gini.

However, as you correctly say, the team has upped their level and we now need a midfield to reflect that. Henderson if fit, is good enough for the next level. Ox or Gini might turn out to be one day (It's easy to forget that they are both relatively new to a deeper midfield role having started as wingers or No.10's) but they are not immediate solutions and more utility players to be frank.

Milner and Lallana though are just nowhere near the level we need. Nor is Emre Can to be honest. We should really be considering replacing all 3 of them in some capacity for next season. They all think they are good enough to start at the absolute highest level, but they're not (though Can could be) . Henderson is our only midfielder out of 6 who seems to naturally understand the midfield role. Milner and Lallana also started out as wingers and Can has played here there and everywhere, but seems to fancy himself as a No.10 I think. Good luck to him wherever he goes.

Keita will sign and I predict we will go back for Lemar and Demirbay. Add those 3 to Hendo, Ox and Gini and we would have a far more creative and composed midfield than this seasons crop. I'm not sure it is exactly what we need as i'd be pushing for a more naturally defensive player, but they're all upgrades on Can, Milner and Lallana. Maybe Grujic will get a last chance saloon?

I do Redchair, I'd personally love a player like Toni Kroos.

14 Mar 2018 14:21:55
MK, how is Wijnaldum a good player? He has not played any deeper role this season! Another hindsight player signed by Klopp expecting him to be his new Gundagaon! He was never a CM let alone a deeper player. He is at Joe Allen level! There are too many passenger trains in that midfield all should be gone by summer!

Lallana is a doubt for the game on Sat, poor man can't keep fit, not sure about Gini, don't think he is a top four player, and I was not too happy when he came on as a sub V man ure, he goes missing in action in most away games, has he ever scored in an away game,
we have to win on Sat, can't allow Chelsea to get too close .
