So emere cans interview in Germany seems to have upset a few fans. Does he play for us again or stuck in the reserves.
For me he should only play if needed and the sooner he goes the better.

up to now, Emere Can has given his all, if we get to a point when he does ease off, then we should bench him, but for me, he is worth his place right now .

If Liverpool fans actually heard the full interview rather than the snippets they wouldn’t be upset.
As for playing him, then yes we should if he is deemed to be the best option. Can has been respectful to the club and not tried to force a move. If he chooses to leave at the end of his contract, so be it. He has, at the end of the day, honoured that contract.

I agree negative (not that often that I do, sorry) I didn't hear the interview but I guess from your post it was something about leaving Liverpool. Play him when/ if there is no other option and hope we can make do without his physical presence. Hendo is pretty hard eh.

Everyone is talking about lemar and Draxler but we have already agreed to sign keita. When Can goes we will need to sign another physical Centre mid, I have absolutely no idea who that will be, I wouldn't be surprised if it was someone we have not thought of here.

The interview the way it was translated makes it sound worse then it actually was imo.

I don't think we should cut our nose off to spite our face. If he is the best option on the day, he should play. However if he isn't committed anymore then arguably he isn't the best option anyway.

Our best midfield is probably Hendo, Gini and Lallana/ Ox. So if we can get everyone fit, then Can doesn't need to play anyway. Very poor of him to say what he has in public though. Openly talking about wanting to go and play in Germany, Italy or Spain? He should've just said "I'm a Liverpool player right now so that is my main focus". Everyone would've known it was PR spiel, but at least it is respectful.

Didn't he say something to the effect of 'I aim to play for a very big club next season, I deserve at least once in my career to play in a world team of the year' - this is a paraphrase not a verbatim quote. But if that is what he said it seems pretty disrespectful toward the club who are still paying his salary in my opinion. He should just keep his mouth shut - if he is going to move to City when his contract expires so be it but don't start spouting all this nonsense. Think it shows his heart isn't in it and probably explains why he has been so inconsistent and not really looked at the races for large spells - think it was very poor and will be glad when he goes.

{Ed001's Note - if he is aiming to play for a very big club next season then it rules out Man City then....}

I don't see can getting in city midfield. Not week in week out. I hope we win the european Cup and then don't offer Emre a new contract. If that's what he said I'm angry. I very rarely get angry at Liverpool players, they can do no wrong in my eyes but that's made me angry. He can do one. He is not in the top 30 players in the world NO WHERE NEAR It but he deserves to play for a worlds best team? What rubbish. Chuck him in the reserves for all I care, what a prick.

MK I don't know how you can put Gini instead of Can. I think Can gets in our best 11.

Not even a top 50 player in the premiership.

Currently, our best selection of midfielders has Can in it. Next year, we are going to improve in that area, and Juventu, who will probably lose Dybala this coming summer, have already given him an offer too good to refuse, one that Klopp, Liverpool and the management won't match as Keita usurps his place and Mainstays like Lallana, Milner and Wijnaldum will still be here. Personally would like to see Can win a trophy with us but Juventus is still a fantastic environment to play football in and I would wish him well as he's always put in the effort for us even in some really rough times and we will never forget that bike!

Amerigo, I’m not sure Milner, Gini and Lallana will all be here next season.

It’s blantly obvious that he’ll move on in the summer. The club will replace him if he’s only first team / starting 11 to leave this summer I’ll be delighted.

The Sueddeutsche Zeitung had an interview with him (i posted about it a few days ago) and sounded like is is genuine not sure what to do next season and where to go. If you can find an accurate translation (mine on here wasnt 100% accurate) then you should give it a read.

Can is a very down to earth guy and in times where players think they are bigger than clubs he honored his contract and behaved very professionally. I honestly don't get why people are upset with him as he has not lost a single bad word about the club or the fans.

What is all this hoopla about the Can interview, exactly? I may have not heard the full interview as I am not interested BUT why are people drawing conclusions about what was said by a player who every man and his dog knows is off in the summer. So he says he will play for a big club next season. Big deal. Are we going to act like Juve (if he goes there) are not a big club or what?

Also, those who are saying he should be stuck in the reserves or saying his heart is no longer int it need to wake up cos none of that is true. If his heart was no longer in it, would he have played near half a season injured, playing thru pain to help us to CL footie? Would he have played a blinder vs City while being severely ill? Played at CB and scored vs Brighton? I can go on.

We can have a debate about whether Can is or not good enough and that is fine. but the continuous slating of a player who has given more than his all to LFC (much more than Cou ever did after his head got turned) needs to end, IMO as it is counter productive. Klopp will continue to pick him if his head is screwed on right (which it is) ansd we all will have to get over it.

22 Mar 2018 21:39:26
Think about it though. If rumours are true in that alongside Keita, Draxler (who is playing more centrally recently before people say he’s a winger) and maybe Ceballos are coming in, does Can get into that team? Yes he’s a first teamer right now and rightly so but will he be next year? I think not personally. He’s given his all so we can’t complain, but if a player doesn’t want to fight for his place at the first sign of trouble, is that he sort of character/ spirit we/ Klopp wants to be keeping? It could well be that he wants to re-sign and that LFC are the ones that won’t want him!

I deserve to play for a big club isn't dis respectful to Liverpool football club? . 5 times winners of the european Cup and 18 times winners of the league. One of the most supported teams in the world.

Thanks to Ed for doctoring my original post, I was proper fuming as I wrote it and went a bit too far, sorry. I can't get over it though, deserves to play for a world's best team. He's good Emre and I've said before I think one day he will be regarded as one of the best but he is far far from it atm.

He has honoured his contract, I'm not saying he hasn't. Although we speak of players honouring contracts as if they've just done a tour of Afghanistan, he's played with a football for a hell of a lot of money. More money in a week than I will ever see in one place. He could have signed an extension so we could sell him and get some money from the deal, I think had we signed keita in the summer we would have sold to juventus. We could have sold him in the summer I know, I just hate the Bosman rule sometimes (the times when we lose a player, the times when we sign matip for nought I quite like it) he's done a lot of good for our club and I have always liked Emre, these comments have tainted my view of him.

Emre said nothing wrong in his interview. translated piece of crap to get something negative to write. You can not take half a sentence, then translate it to another language and put it out of context. laughable.

Good God. Is anyone actually bothered if he goes, he's terrible. It literally a lack of options that people seem to think he's good. We have to play him, he doesn't deserve to be played.

Wait till keita arrives and another midfielder toy will see.

It's the same as mignolet. Clamouring for anything to keep him in the net 'Oh a great shot stopper'then karius steps up and you all forget about simon.

Can is absolutely 100% bang average. It's as simple as that!

There is a reason we can't control a game in the middle of the park, why we always get cut open like a hot knife through butter.
