I know he's had his critics but what a performance by Lovren, he was absolutely magnificent. In fact, along with Trent and Milner, he was probably the best player throughout the two legs, an absolute colossus. If he can continue playing at this level consistently, I am confident we can go all the way and win the CL this season.

{Ed0333's Note - Lovren is such an enigma. I wish he was more consistent we could have a real player on our hands.

Agreed, I would say the same about Gini, I said the other day I didn’t see what he brought to the team anymore as he wasn’t pushing towards, grabbing hold of the game anymore like he did last season and what happens? He plays an absolute blinder from a deeper position! So frustrating when you know there’s a good player in their but the consistency is lacking. More of the same please Lovren and Gini!

i thought the same about Gini in the first half did seem to drop back to far and went missing and then come out for the second half and grabbed the game by the balls drove us forward and was immense.

Lovren has been pretty good since VVD came in, maybe he just needed the right partner all along.

Lovern has always looked better playing along a better defender, I just worry that he seems to rely on other to lift his game. At some point the club will outgrow him.

At this level, Lovren needs commanding cb alongside him and he will be perfect! Knowing him, he depends a lot on partners in defence, and karius and vvd made him enjoy his game!
