From all the hype around Salah and Firmino guess no one noticed that Mane needs 3 more to make it 20 goals this season! Does anyone know when was the last time when Liverpool had 3 players with tally of 20 or more and who were they?

I've gone back several seasons and the closest I can see us coming to that was 2000-2001 when we won the treble.

Owen - 24 goals
Heskey - 22 goals
Fowler - 17 goals

Given that football for many decades was typically 4-4-2, I doubt we'll find any at all, as the goals would've been concentrated around 2 main strikers.

Truly a remarkable achievement for us this season, and hopefully to continue!

As a side note, if Couts had stayed, and given he's still 4th in our scorers this season with 12 goals, who's to say we couldn't have had 4 x 20+?!

Zeddicus, Mane would be no where close to 20 goals if Coutinho was still here. Remember, Mane was in and out of the side while Coutinho was moved back from midfield to LW coz our midfield was so unbalanced with Coutinho there?
Firmino has also taken his game to the next level after Coutinho's departure so, NO. I doubt there would have been 4*20 under any circumstances.

Agree, IB. Seems like Coutinho's departure unleashed more of the potentials of other players. Coutinho probably wasn't really our best player when he was here. Please don't get me wrong, he's still a quality player.

I'm excited. Now we have more "stars" than the usual only one star.

Heskey 22 goals, Fowler 17 goals: a prime example of why statistics are meaningless when removed from the context.

Faith - yes, he missed 5 games through injury and 3 through suspension between the start of september and the end of october - effectively 2 whole months out.

I omitted Firmino from my team of the season and have changed my mind. I don't know a team who wouldn't be better off without him.
