HEgazi apparently not facing any further action for his punch on Danny Ings as a panel of former referees were unable to reach a unanimous decision as to whether it was violent conduct or not. Apparently a mitigating factor was that Hegazi did not appear to use that much force. Couldn't make it up - weak referees before retirement, weak in retirement - entire system wants changing.

I can't believe that. So what about when he smashed Salah in the face 5 minutes later?

Disgusting. So you are now allowed to punch people, as long as they don't a) play for Man City
b) or make a big deal out of it.

Salah and Ings were too honest. A City player would've been rolling around for 5 minutes!

Not to mention the blatant forearm face slap on Salah later in the game. And they're international team mates, nice.

Just says to all kids watching that it’s ok to punch someone in a game of footie. Well done to the FA. What next “biting” ohh wait! 🙈.

If that is true that is absolutely pathetic. I remember when Paul Scholes was sent off for taking a swing at Alonso that didn't even connect, and Scholes took it on the chin because he knew it was right. That is genuinely a disgusting decision.

Fa are an absolute disgrace. And leave themselves open to ridicule. I know its a different 3man panel. But how on earth 2 weeks after they saw a touch, that i and millions of fans have yet to see off Kane's (Fa golden boy) shoulder. To award him a goal. Yet they can't agree on the most obvious, incident caught perfectly on camera of Hegazi punching Ings in stomach! Embarrassing and to think these clowns run our game and actually get paid vast sums!

The fact he made a clenched fists should be evidence enough.
Awful refereeing.

Bad precedent to set.
Not our problem, it’s West Brom’s.

Unbelievable. Paints a picture of a room full of numpties sitting around a TV trying to figure out what happened.

Question for the eds and seperate to this particular decision - how much is diversity pushed at all levels of the game? I'm thinking age, genders, cultures etc. Feel like there are too many of the same people in positions of power. Is that why we get the same head scratching results!?

{Ed002's Note - You need to step away fro it all being a conspiracy against LFC.}

I thought this was a joke on first read? This should be a joke and referees are becoming a disgrace. The former ref "pundits" or whatever you call them legitimately make up or change rules to say referees haven't made an error.

I was told in life you learn from mistakes. refs will not change while they are not held accountable for mistakes.

For an Ed or someone who would know. can we appeal the decision? I'm not sure we would but I feel on principle we should.

I think I'm pretty good at that thanks ed2, but I don't expect ya to keep track of the posters who don't get too rose-tinted too often. Maybe I'll ask the same question another time when some time has passed. chur!
