Just thought I'd make a point about Allison last night. He is a great keeper absolutely no doubt and I'd love to buy him. However, he was poor last night - came off his line way too early for Salah's second goal, fumbled the ball on 2 occasions which almost landed to one of our players from a corner and I felt his kicking wasn't great. My point is, no matter how good any player, he can have an off day. If Karius had performed like that last night he would have got absolutely slaughtered. Karius will 100% make mistakes and have bad games, but do will De Gea for United, Oblak for Atletico. even Salah for us! let's have some perspective and faith for our players - Lovren, Karius whoever.

John lennon totally agree with your point in relation to Karius. He has steadily improved and most importantly learned from mistakes such as delaying on the ball when being closed down giving me faith he has the ability to come good.

However, I do not agree that this applies to Lovren. He has been with us a number of seasons now and still makes the same mistakes over and over again resulting in costly errors. Simple things like completely misjudging the flight of the ball for dzekos goal have happened countless times, not to mention he was lucky not to concede a penalty in the first half, which again has happened all to often.

After nearly 2 and a half seasons of coaching under Klopp alone I think its fair to say no amount of coaching will stop lovren from having games where he has a complete breakdown in defensive capabilities.

When he pulls on the jersey I will support Lovren but I have also completely lost faith that he is deserving of being part of liverpools first choice centre back pairing.

I thought Alisson looked the most capable keeper on the pitch last night. Pity for him he had to deal with our forwards, he had no chance with any of the goals.

Alisson is a very good GK, no question and that is not the debate here, IMO. He had a bad game, fact. Karius did not. People saying Lovs made a mistake should go and read Ed01's match review and maybe the finger pointing will stop. I doubt it, tho.

As for Karius, he was a bit nervous as he was playing in the biggest game of his career and I thought was fortunate to "save" the shot from Kolarov. Apart from that, he was solid and commanded his box well, asking those in front if him to calm down during those final mins BUT no one seemed to listen.

Karius has made less mistakes leading to goals directly than LLoris and Courtois in the PL this season. If Karius or Migs had made the type of mistakes these two have made this season, many would have driven him to Germany. He leads the CL in clean sheets. Players will make mistake as that is what happens in life. If they did not make mistakes, they would not be human. The main thing is that they improve and cut them out to a minimum, not totally as that will NEVER happen.

Ok everyone is entitled to their opinion however, if you want to try and use one of the eds to delegitimise my argument, at least quote them properly.

What was actually said was "Unfortunately only Lovren recognised the situation and dropped off, so, when he was unable to get to the header, which was an error by him. ".

To refer to my original point from statememt I specifically refered to his error as misjudging the flight of the ball a basic error in itself. Its no good being able to see danger happening if you don't have the quality to deal with it.

I'll be the first to admit lovren on his day can be an immense defender. However, my point is he always has, and seemingly always will, have games where he just switches off and does something to cost us points. I will support him when he plays but that does not mean I don't think we could easily improve our central defensive options by replacing him.

Nafe01,
That always tends to be that person's defense/ argument when obviously clueless themselves.

I believe a keeper coming to england should play every game or at least a half of every cup that so called doesn't matter game. Get them used to rough and tumble of fa cup and league cup. That would get him used to crosses .
