Sooooooo who do we want in the final? I'd prefer real I think our front 3 will destroy that defence. Also. Side note. Does the fact allisson shipped 5 goals last night mean we should look elsewhere? IMO no because he made no errors. But conceding 5 is embarrassing.

I’m sure every top class keeper has conceded 5 goals in their time. De Gea has for a start. If shots are reigning in on your goal because of poor defending your not going to save everything no matter how good you are.

People can't judge Allison on one performance, he's a great keeper, a keeper I'd have at Liverpool tomorrow, unfortunately I don't think that'll happen.

Give me either team in the final, we'll do any of them.

I don't think Alisson could've stopped us from scoring 5 goals, but if Karius had flown out to the edge of his area and a shot was lifted over him and then dropped a corner later in the game, we'd probably say something about him. Any keeper is going to have a 'could've done better' moment once in a while.

My view on 'keepers is:

There's no point in buying someone like Butland, who might be a bit more consistent with his shot stopping than Karius, but not better than him overall, and actually weaker in some areas. I'd rather continue with Karius, who, remember, has yet to have a full season playing with the same defence consistently. If we replace Karius, it has to be on someone significantly better.

But buying a top quality 'keeper is going to be monstrously expensive. Alisson will probably set us back at least £50m, more if you believe the papers. Is he £50m+ worth of an improvement over Karius? I don't know. With the way football transfer fees are going currently, what even constitutes value for money at £50m?

Spot on, SR. Butland is at Stoke for a reason. He is average, error and injury prone and overrated. IMO, he is not in Karius' league and would be poor for our system. He's English which is why he still gets air time in the media, IMO. Had he not been, no one would care cos I know I wouldn't. Stoke is his level now while Karius is 90 mins from a CL final, leading an undefeated team and leading the CL in clean sheets. Butland is not in Karius league and IMO, never was.

I thought Alisson made a mistake with Salah's 2nd. He came charging out. He had a covering defender coming across so probably would have been better staying back. I see no reason to replace Karius though. He has deserved the chance to be No.1 for the whole of next season.

I remember a an LFC vs Newcastle game in 08 that ended 5-1, and Shay Given was the man of the match - against a keeper having anything other than the game of their life it would have been 10 or 11 at least.
