Henderson Alli
Sterling
Vardy Kane
Be happy with this for the world cup, Quarters is as far asis ee us going, the Euros should be a more realistic goal.

'I think England can go to Russia this summer and shock the world by earning a draw against Panama! '

Hahaha love it but at the beginning you said 'I'll try to be more optimistic' I think your been TOO optimistic, you actually think we can get a result against Panama? ;)

Well written mate, I usually wouldn't read anything about England because I can't stand them as a team and I hope they get battered in every single game to bring the players down a peg or two but I'm bored out of my head and I enjoyed it, thanks mate.

we may as well not enter.
How many of these players are regular starters fro their clubs?
5?

Cheers lads.

Not a bad side Lancaster but looks a bit light in midfield. I can't see Southgate going with two unless it is Henderson and Dier, which is too static for me.

Salah, I had to put in a bit of humour so you wouldn't fall asleep reading about Phil Jones, Fabian Delph and Danny Welbeck. I did (sort of) suggest their could be a Quarter final game for us to enjoy. Sorry, meant endure!

Flidby, average isn't it mate. To be fair, aside from Stones they are all regular starters but the only player who shows up with their club form for England in that 11, is Lingard. I know he's a United player but not playing him would be a travesty.

Don't worry lads, when Klopp sees the link up play between myself and The Raver at the charity game, he'll sign us both up 🤞.

MK, Pickford is is the driving seat at the moment, I expect him to start barring him having a mare in the friendlies. Jones may start ahead of Maguire as he's the better defender and I think Lingard will be on the bench, probably behind Dier.

It's a shame about Lingard as he deserves a chance but I don't see him starting alongside Alli and Sterling, we'll only start with two of those three on the pitch.

Top article Adam. ‘Shock the world with a drawer v Panama’ love it. Wouldn’t surprise me if Lallana ends up on the plane due to Welbeck pulling a hammy shopping at Tesco.

Agree with everything you’ve said in that article mk especially sterling I believe he will play as a “striker” the only thing i disagree with is that I think Cahill will be a starter.

MK, Id have Dier stepping out to support Henderson if needed, Alli to get us moving forward with a bit of bite and Sterling and Vardy uptop to give us an option of over the top or threw balls behind, I don't actually think the England team is all doom and gloom as some do, as a side note id like to us makea bid for Loftus Cheek, if Klopp can develop him, he could become a beast of a centre mid.

Putney, I reckon Pickford and Butland will get one friendly each to prove themselves. It is close and I'm certain Southgate hasn't decided yet. I reckon Butland will impress more (marginally) .

As for Jones and Cahill starting, I wouldn't rule it out but I don't think Southgate will change his tactics of passing out from the back. See his interview half an hour ago for evidence. He loves the principle of building attacks in defence.

As for Dier starting ahead of Lingard, I wouldn't be shocked if he bottled it. But against Italy he played Ox, Hendo and Lingard as the midfiekd 3. So hopefully he just does a straight swap of Alli in for Ox. I would hate to see Dier and Hendo again. They don't work together.

Great point Reaper. Welbeck has a terrible injury record recently!

To be fair Lancaster, Dier stepping out would help in midfield. I'd question if Maguire and Stones have the intelligence to come narrow in that scenario though. They don't seem tactically astute!

On Loftus-Cheek, I am not against him signing because I think Klopp could get something from him, but I think there are better options. He's been over hyped this season to be honest. He's done well, but the call up was strange for me. I just don't think he is ready.

Very similar to the team I suggest, maybe Cahill over McGuire for me and I'd like to see vardy start if we play a back five.

Firmane, I personally would play Mee over Maguire, Arnold ovet Trippier, and Vardy over Kane. This is more of a prediction than a what I would do. I agree though that if we sit deep with a back 3, surely Vardy's pace in behind would be worth more than Kane's 40 yard corner flag shots? Maybe Kane is favoured for his corner taking prowess 👀.

My 2c

Englands forwards are competitive with Kane, Vardy, Sterling and Rashford. The fullbacks are also strong in attacking in Walker, Rose with TAA and Young.

On the other hand, the major problem is in midfield with only Hendo is capable of being an all-rounder, Dier is poor, Delph hasn’t played enough and Alli is more attacking, same with Lingard. A two man midfield is hard to make work with only Hendo effective in the role. (How Southgate must be wishing for a Hendo/ Milner/ Ox setup after how Liverpool has performed in the last few months! ) .

CBs and Keeper are also no more than average so there is no way England has the talent or defensive nous to play like Atletico and hold on for 1-0 draws all the way through the tournament.

With all this in mind why not just unleash the pool of really strong young attacking talent and let them have a go at it? At least it’ll be an exciting tournament and they’ll learn something? You never know what momentum could come of it if they win a few?

With that in mind I’d go with a high energy attacking lineup and try shock teams through pressing high and scoring plenty of goals, much like Liverpool has been doing this season. Once you’re a few up then perhaps consider bringing on the likes of Dier and Delph.

4-3-3

Butland
Walker - Stones - Macguire - Rose
Lingard - Hendo - Alli
Sterling - Kane - Rashford

At least I’d turn the TV on for that lot.

I think the GK position is an excellent indicator of how far England has falken in terms of footballing talent. Neither Pickford or Butland are anywhere near the level of past England level keepers like Shilts/ Banks/ Clemence, in fact both of them spend most of their time picking the ball out of the net for their clubs. So glad I dn't watch international footie.
