I just watched the '05 final again in full as a warm up to the weekend and it's amazing to see the contrast from the 1st to the 2nd half. AC Milan were imperious in the first half but the mood In the second was completely different, right from the start.

The first thing that struck me was YNWA ringing around the stadium before the second half kicked off. not half hearted, but full of pride and belief despite being three nil down. You could sense the mood shift, and you could see it in the Liverpool players immediately. Right from the whistle you could see them respond to every roar as they surged forward, and the nervousness of the Milan players was immediately visible. What was going on? Did they really think they had a chance? The first seeds of doubt were sown, and I bet none of that would have happened if the fans had slinked off at half time.

By the time Stevie scored his goal, which seemed almost inevitable looking at it now, and as he waved on the crowd as he ran back to halfway, the fear in the Milan players was palpable. They knew. A brilliant moment summed it up on the 57th minute after Smicers goal, where you can see Ancelotti looking on shell shocked from the sideline, then the camera pans across on the Liverpool supporters in the background, going nuts. The third goal was inevitable in their minds. No nervousness or fear, just pure energy and belief, driving their side on relentlessly.

The point i guess I'm making, is when you look at those teams on paper, that game should never have happened. That was one of the greatest and most experienced AC Milan sides I've ever seen. But this isn't simply a game of 11 on 11.it never has been. The Liverpool players began to believe in themselves, because we the fans believed in them. AC Milan learnt to fear, because we believed it wasn't over. The fans were a huge part of the story that night.

People can talk all they like about Real Madrid's experience, and how our players haven't experienced a final before. but we have lads. We've been there and seen Liverpool do it. We are the experience in the club and we've seen and heard it all before. If we roar on every attack just like the fans did in 2005, the players experience won't matter. Our lads will believe in themselves, their lads will fear us, and we will drown them in the maelstrom that will follow.

We are Liverpool, and for all those who will represent us in the stadium this weekend, do us proud. Roar on the reds and never stop believing, its our job to go help them bring home the cup.

YNWA.

I bet the players watch that game as prep for the final.
I bet most of the fans as well actually.
Our fans in Kiev will be so numerous and loud it will feel like a home game.

I sure most of the players don't even like the song and hearing that song 100s of times a season must get on their nerves.
Now if the fans are chanting the names of players I can see that giving them a slight boost.
