You can get something called a subluxation which is a bit like a partial dislocation where the humeral head comes out so far before flicking back in, therefore doesn’t fully dislocate. This would subsequently cause quite a bit of soft tissue trauma. Maybe that is what happened. If his rotator cuff was torn and needed surgery the World Cup would be out of question but if not he may well be ok to take some part.
