New poster, long time reader and appreciater. A general question that may be naive and previously tackled, so advanced apologies (never stops anyone else though! ) How does the transfer kitty ("war chest") work? Are managers told in advance? Do they just get presented with a list of potential affordables and then told when someone is now "too expensive"? I mean I cld give all sorts of permutations; but you'll know where I'm going with this. What are the freedoms/ restrictions on JK and the recruitment team? Sorry for the length of question and adding to it with my apology for that!

{Ed002's Note - No, typically there is no specific “transfer kitty” the club knows when funds are limited and they know that there are significant additional costs to transfers - as I have explained, van Dijk’s transfer has cost the club just about £90M in hard cash so far.}

Totally agree Lavers! We wouldn’t have made the progress we have without him.
