I don't even know what to say about this. I'm just embarrassed.

Well said Ed001.

{Ed001's Note - I am shocked people by what I saw in that thread mate. People are more bothered about a result than a man's life.}

Well done Ed055. Hopefully make a few people sit back and think someone’s health is more important than a game!

{Ed001's Note - Ed055 was telling me earlier he has suffered concussion twice playing rugby and so was disgusted by the responses he saw.}

I really respect you for going against the tide Ed001 despite being in a position where it could damage your site. Takes a bigger man to stand up for what is right than it does to act tough and callous.

You are spot on about the expectation of men to hide pain and emotion. That Muppet Scholes took the mickey out of Salah for crying, and we wonder why adult men are the most at risk from suicide? Now all this 🤦‍♂️

It's not just football fans, or even just society. It is humanity that embarrasses me. We have the opportunity to learn and be better than our ancestors. It's time we took that opportunity.

{Ed001's Note - it is not unknown for concussion to drive men to suicide. It is not a minor injury by any means and it should be treated as being potentially life-threatening.

As for the first bit, if it was just about page views I would be churning out clickbait articles or giving them clickbait headlines. I have deliberately steered away from giving the news round up anything exciting as a title. That way people are only going to look at it if they really want to, rather than because they have been teased by the title.}

I said it yesterday it's time we ALL get off the lad's back.

Well said ed1. It is absolutely disgraceful what has gone on since the final towards the lad. I’ll reiterate what I and a few posters have been saying since that night. Look after yourself mate. You’ll never walk alone.

If only more people were aware of the risks MK. Maybe people would engage their brain before their mouth more often. Unfortunately this is not the case, I could go on forever about it mate but I'm busy and rushing. Good posts in this thread, I'm glad there's some people who aren't dumb enough to put a football game over a mans health. It's nice to be nice, everybody should always remember that.

Fully behind the Ed’s on this and I am really pleased actually that this has made another site because it might raise awareness.

Given this site and our Ed’s do actually have quite a reach now, is it possible that the Ed’s (or Macca) could reach out to Karius and make sure he is ok. Regardless of what happened in the final and views on the result, I would be proud to be part of a support group that actually showed the true meaning of YNWA to one of our players.

{Ed001's Note - it would have been easier if I did not delete all my social media, as I could have then passed on a message through there to some of the club staff. That isn't a bad idea though Kd.}

Just to concur with the overiding sentiment to this thread, utterly embarrassed by these comments. Concussion is career threatening so I wish Karius all the best and a speedy recovery.
What angers me more is that literally minutes before reading ED55's piece I read that some 'fans' are now calling for the match to be replayed, it's a game of football at the end of the day, we lost, get over it. It's at times like this I wonder what happened to us being the best supports in the world? Let's focus on Karius' health.

9.) 05 Jun 2018
05 Jun 2018 12:27:52
Like you said Ed01, "YNWA my arse! "

{Ed001's Note - I should have prefaced that with: "in the immortal words of Ricky Tommo" really but not sure how many people would have had a clue what I was on about then!}

Nice article 055 nothing to say that hasn't been said.

Thanks to 055 and 001 for getting me to look into concussion and its effects i just read karius could actually retire from this (injury) hope its not true and the lad will make a full recovery.

Ed if you start some form of ‘messages of support’ for th lad, I’d sign it. He’s probably been through his worse nightmare and although I’m still in the camp he shouldn’t probably start if we can get Alisson or Oblak, that doesn’t mean he deserves any of this either. I think if we can get a few hundred fans signing up to send messages of support and that it’s all going to be OK, that can’t be a bad thing and may make all the difference to how he feels about the world.

Great article, thanks guys. Been disgusted by the response. Have been concussed a few times, most weren't so bad. One I ended up walking around a house party in a daze, someone surprised me and i tried to brain them with a bottle. Completely out of character and I still don't (and probably never will) remember the incident, but one thing I do remember is feeling nauseated for about a week after and being surprised that where I got hit I didn't even have a bruise. I was very lucky that it was early in the night and a med student I knew has seen me get hit (silly hijinks, someone jumped off a shed roof and landed on me) and figured out what was probably going on - I could have ended up with my face smashed in or a jail cell and would never have even known why.

Concussion is serious. Like all brain injuries, it can be very hard to detect without a proper diagnostic i. e. not just asking the person if they are okay or shining a torch in their eyes. At best it's nasty and at worst it can be fatal. And if it happening to our player isn't more important to you than the result of one match, no matter what match, it's pathetic. If it being entirely within the protocols of the match that players are just expected to carry on without even being checked out is less important to you than a bit of club PR or some stupid rival fans willfully missing the point in order to get their digs in, you're far beyond pathetic.

and thank you ed001 for maintaining the site that way. this site is amazing i love the proper discussions we can have on this site.

of course from time to time it does get toxic, which im sure u and all the other eds would know more.

i hope karius recovers and comes back stronger. YNWA Karius.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.}

Concussion is not what so people think it is. As ed001 it is potentially life threatening! Some rugby players are or for months due to their concussion which shows it's severity.
I've had two concussions during my time playing rugby and it certainly does affect your performance more than you would think, even minor concussions. Getting hit in the head causes you to think twice when going for something similar and causes you to make errors you never normally would. This clearly was the case for Karius.

I’ve been badly concussed twice playing field hockey, but both time it didn’t even cross my mind about concussion. I thought I was fine but clearly I was anything but, and I’m pretty sure I would have played on if my mates hadn’t taken me off to hospital. I was forgetting things 10mins after they happened for days after the second one.

These things should never be left to the player to decide.

And that counts for ED25 too, some of your comments on the Rumours page are insular, deplorable and pathetic

The same person who wanted Mane to go to prison for his collision with Ederson

Uneducated and bitter . how old are you like?

{Ed025's Note - im actually 60 but that has nothing to do with it, im just not as gullible as the likes of you who thinks that when someone cries wolf we should all feel sympathy for them, look you got beat fair and square so just deal with that and dont go looking for scapegoats, is it so unbelievable that you got beat by real madrid?, take off the red tinted specs and where you got the mane thing from i dont know, by the way i have 9 GCSE,s of which 7 are grade 1, if you dont know what they are ask your kindergarten teacher..

I sort of see where you’re coming from Ed as the result, the game and Ramos should be put to bed now. Frankly it shouldn’t have anything to do with this conversation and anyone using the concussion angle to drag up excuses over the perceived unfairness should grow up.

What I do think though, is that if doctors haven’t lied about the concussion (and can’t see why they would risk their careers over making false statements) then there is a genuine question whether something wasn’t missed in the game as he clearly should have been checked on the field given the head injury.

Everyone waved it off, and frankly it didn’t cross my mind as a risk at the time but maybe that’s exactly the point. where do we draw the line if we missed this one? Should every head clash require a check? Seems there are a lot of clashes of heads as players go up competing for headers in the PL that don’t get checked.

We can say we are all too soft and this wouldn’t have happened in the old days, but reality is concussion is an issue.

{Ed025's Note - i can buy the concussion debate SG and the geoff astle case certainly has its merits, but for me there are too many questions over the karius claim, why was it not picked up by liverpool staff?, why did it take 10 days before he got a diagnosis?, with this new revelation could it save his liverpool career after fans were baying for his blood?, too many questions and not enough answers....and the biggest question of all....does he think our heads button up at the back..

Ffs the karious hounding makes me ashamed of being a fan. When he made the errors I was screaming at the tv. but logically it so bad I thought has he bribed. cos who would do that. if he was confused it makes more sense. Because that wast an error he just threw at the feet of a striker. irrilivent he is just a kid, my boy plays in goal, and just keep thinking what if it was him that these vile post were about.

Leave him alone, he still one of our own. Ynwa.
