Thanks to all of the Ed's for their information and insight. Just curious Ed 02 if you are around; how would you deal with Karius situation after the final (as in support and retain as No 1; retain and move to backup, or loan out, look to sell etc etc) and if in your opinion he should to be replaced as No 1; who would you look to buy/ promote to that spot? Thank you for posting on the sight; it is very much appreciated.

{Ed002's Note - I think it should be down to the player. Certainly the fans have done an enormous amount of damage to him and it may now be untenable for him to stay. Liverpool will look to add a goalkeeper, perhaps two.}

Fingers crossed he stays. If Alisson doesn't come then I want to see Karius as number 1 again.

That's a shame. I still think Karius has a chance to make it at LFC if the fans give him the proper backing. Its never easy being a sweeper GK (nobody seems to have noticed the mistakes Hugo Lloris makes) . Sweeper keepers have the added responsibility of distributing the ball ASAP and have to think about what will happen if they get the ball in their hands before they have even caught it. Ederson blundered leading to Salah's goal at Anfield as well. He tried to get the ball to his midfield when he should have just cleared it outside. But obviously Pep has different way of playing and the same applies for Klopp and Karius.
Karius will never be world class but he is not a bad GK by any stretch.

Ed is correct. Just check SM to see what some of our own "fans" have been saying about him post Kiev and now after the news that he was playing the rest of that final with a concussion. DESPICABLE.

I agree with you, IB. Lloris and Courtois have made more mistakes that led to goals this season than Karius did before the final. Courtois esp., has been poor and the sight of him being embarrassed by messing putting the ball btw his wickets TWICE at the Nou Camp, took the biscuit for me BUT as you well know for certain LFC fans, all things non-LFC will always be better than what we have in-house.

The only place I disagree with you is where you say Karius wil never be world class. Please, do you have any proof of that cos the kid is only 24? Do you have the Lotto nos. as well? Karius is already very experienced having played in the CL and got the most clean sheets in it this season. He played 19 games in the PL and had 10 clean sheets and had he not saved that pen from Kane, do we make top 4? Not sure we do esp. at that time where things were really tight. Hey, now that may be your opinion BUT making sweeping statements esp. based on knowing NOTHING about what the future holds, is counter productive to an otherwise, frank and honest debate on this thread.

The OTT stick directed at Karius has been out of order. But let's keep it real he is an average keeper. On the same level as Gini in midfield not good enough for the first 11.

I agree Karius will never be world class. It doesn't need proving, brover, its an opinion. That opinion is based on watching him play over the past couple of seasons not just the final.
I would love him to stay at Liverpool though as he shown enough this season to suggest he could be a decent keeper for us, plus id love him to prove all the haters and abusers wrong. Best of luck to him.

RedLorry, if that is your opinion, then you put it in as such and not use definitives in your statement as if you can prove what you say whereas, you can't. I for example, have and will NEVER say that a player will never be world class cos players have made such people eat their words in the past, present and will still keep happening. Many had said Salah would not amount to anything being good when he came to us and now look at him. Many thought Klopp would not turn out as a fine manager when he began and now look at him, easily top 5 in Europe as it stands. I don't know for a fact if Karius will be WC and neither do you, IB or anyone else for that matter and that is a fact. You are entitled to your opinion BUT not entitled to your own facts.

Thank you Ed02. I would like to see him kept and played in the Cups initially with a bit less pressure to get the final out of his system and feel some support from the fans directly. The abuse online are from people that don’t attend matches or understand the game at any level. Thanks again for your time and insights; they are greatly appreciated by the vast majority of people in here.

{Ed002's Note - I don’t think keeping, even as a number 2, just to play in cup games would do any more than embarrass him.}
